The Met Gala, otherwise known as the Super Bowl of fashion, unveiled its star-studded host committee on Tuesday.
Among those tapped for hosting duties are three luminaries with Texas connections: gymnast Simone Biles, musician André 3000 and sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson.
In the spirit of the exhibit, the Metropolitan Museum announced Tuesday the gala’s dress code, “Tailored for You.”
It’s “a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and tailoring that can be broadly interpreted from suiting to specific silhouettes, fabrics and accessories,” according to a video posted to the museum’s Instagram.
On Tuesday, Biles, who grew up in Spring, shared a Vogue magazine post about the committee to her Instagram story with the caption: “see you at the met gala.”
In a statement from the Met provided to The Associated Press, Richardson, a Dallas native, said: “Our style isn’t just what we wear — it’s how we move, how we own our space, how we tell our story without saying a word.”
Both athletes competed at the 2024 Olympics in Paris last summer.
Richardson won gold after anchoring the 4×100-meter relay with teammates Gabby Thomas, Melissa Jefferson and Twanisha Terry while Biles took home three gold medals and one silver in the gymnastics competition.
André 3000, who lived for two years in Dallas in the 2010s, was recently a contender for album of the year at the Grammys with his flute record, New Blue Sun, ultimately losing to Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter.
In September, the former Outkast rapper toured in Dallas for his album, stopping at the Winspear Opera House. Erykah Badu, who he shares a child with, joined him onstage for the performance.
