Chicago Sky fans have hailed the appointment of Courtney Paris as assistant coach as they predicted her arrival will be “perfect” for Angel Reese’s development.
The 37-year-old makes the move to Illinois after embarking coaching roles with the Dallas Wings and the Oklahoma Sooners after calling time on her playing days. During a glittering career on the floor, the retired center won the WNBA title once, while earning the league’s rebounding champion honors on two occasions.
Prior to her professional days, Paris enjoyed a record-breaking collegiate career too, setting a new NCAA all-time haul for consecutive double-doubles with 112. Prior to being drafted by the Sacramento Monarchs back in 2009, she also became the first player in college basketball history to tally up 2,500 career points and 2,000 career rebounds.

With these achievements in mind, Sky fans have been left convinced that Paris is the perfect appointment as they predicted she will prove a positive influence for starlet Reese. The youngster too set new standards in her maiden WNBA season last term – setting new league records for single-season double-double, alongside the SEC single-season record for rebounds.
Predicting a fruitful partnership between the assistant coach and power forward, one fan took to social media to hail the news of Paris’ arrival in Chicago, saying: “Oooh she’s going to help Reese and Kamilla,” as a second said: “That’s a win for Angel,” while another added: “OH THIS IS GOING TO BE DYNAMITE!!!”
Meanwhile, another fan pointed out that move is good news for Kamilla Cardoso also, saying: “This should be a good move for Reese and Cardoso,” as a fourth said: “Perfect for Angel, before another confident fan remarked: “Angel about to average 25 rebounds a game.”
Speaking excitedly after adding his first assistant coach since taking the reins as the Sky’s new head coach, Tyler Marsh said: “We are extremely excited to have Courtney join our staff here in Chicago. She brings a decade of WNBA experience as a player and as a coach that will surely benefit our players.”
Paris spoke of her pride at joining Chicago, saying: “I am deeply honored and grateful to [GM Jeff Pagliocca] and Tyler for the opportunity to join the Chicago Sky organization. Through this process, I’ve had the chance to get to know Tyler, and I am truly inspired by his vision and leadership. I’m eager to support him and the entire coaching staff as we work together to elevate this team.”
Likewise, Elizabeth Williams expressed her happiness after learning of Paris’ arrival, adding: “She’s great. Not only a really skilled and smart player but a really great person. We’re going to continue to bring in people that elevate us on and off the floor. I’m excited to have her. It’s always great to have a post coach.”
