Taylor Swift isn’t the only American icon who has been a consistent presence at NFL games in recent years. Olympic superstar Simone Biles has frequently attended games to support her husband, NFL safety Jonathan Owens.
But with the 2024 NFL season over and the 2025 NFL off-season rapidly approaching, Biles seemed to have a cryptic message about her husband’s future in the NFL.
Taking to Instagram this week, Biles announced that she and Owens would be leaving Chicago for at least a few months. Apparently the two are leaving for a little R&R. But the addendum that they’ll “see you in a few months” is a pretty strong indicator that Owens knows he’ll be back with the team next season.
“Farewell to our time in chicago see you in a few months,” she wrote, via Essentially Sports.
“Lil mamas cross country trip. On her way back to Houston w/the best @rfrdacademy,” Biles wrote next, sharing a photo of their dog.
Owens played in all 17 games for the Bears this past season, starting five at safety and splitting time between defense and special teams. He finished the season with 49 tackles, two passes defended, a forced fumble, a career-high two fumble recoveries and one tackle for loss.
The 29-year-old safety turns 30 before the next season and the Bears could save a bit of money in cap space by letting him go this offseason. But the team appears to be content to keep him on the roster through the end of his contract now.
Biles and Owens have been extremely supportive of their respective careers. Owens was in Paris to watch Biles win multiple medals at the Olympics this past summer, while Biles has returned the favor by attending multiple Bears games, frequently giving him pre-game support.
“For him, it means a lot for me to go on the sideline before because he says that’s his pre-game routine. So he’s always looking for me on the sideline to give him, like, good luck vibes and wishes. That’s just his superstition,” Biles said in an interview this past year.
It looks like Biles and Owens will be Windy City residents for at least another year.
