Jake Paul reveals conversations with Anthony Joshua as promoter confesses truth about fight

After defeating Mike Tyson in November 2024 and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June this year, the influencer turned professional boxer is starting to look towards his next big challenge.

Although a possible title fight against Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez is still in the works, another matchup that has caught the eye is a potential clash with former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Recently, during an interview, Jake Paul revealed details of his private exchange of messages with Anthony Joshua, where, according to Paul, the Briton confirmed his interest in fighting, but not immediately:

He just said he’s going to do two more fights, and then we do it in 2026. But he’s willing

Who will be Jake Paul’s next opponent?

This is not the first time Paul has mentioned Joshua, as on his podcast last March, the YouTuber dared to say that he could defeat the former champion: “He has no jaw, no skills and is stiff”. Then, in April, he claimed that Joshua had responded: “I saw you challenged me. Let’s make it happen”.

Paul, 28, insists that fight will happen if the fight with Gilberto Ramirez does not materialize. The American currently ranks 14th in the WBA rankings at cruiserweight, although his inclusion has generated controversy within the organization.

When is Anthony Joshua’s next fight?

Despite Jake Paul’s claims, there is no official confirmation from Anthony Joshua’s camp about this fight. The Briton’s promoter, in a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, was clear on the matter: “I think there’s a possibility of seeing Anthony Joshua this year… but it won’t be against Jake Paul.”

He also suggested that Paul is taking advantage of Joshua‘s name for media purposes: “If I was Anthony Joshua and I was being offered to fight someone who a few years ago was a Disney star… he’s not anymore”.

Therefore, at least for now, the possible fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua seems to be more in the realm of speculation than reality.

Joshua is currently recovering from elbow surgery following his defeat to Daniel Dubois. His return to the ring is expected in late 2025, although an opponent has yet to be confirmed.
