Eddie Hearn drops Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua bombshell update as Turki Alalshikh enters talks
A fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua could be on the horizon as boxing’s most influential figure has now entered the talks.
A few weeks ago, Jake Paul returned to the boxing ring for the first time since his controversial win over Mike Tyson last year when he took on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Anaheim.
‘The Problem Child’ was met with a chorus of boos after he picked up the unanimous decision victory over the former WBC middleweight champion, moving one step closer to his goal of becoming a champion.
And looking to set up his next fight, during his post-fight interview, Paul called out several big names, with former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua being one of them.
Eddie Hearn drops big Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua update
The 28-year-old successfully landed himself a spot in the top 15 of the cruiserweight rankings with his win, occupying number 14.
Following his fight, he did square up to cruiserweight champion Zurdo Ramirez, potentially setting up a fight with the Mexican, however, it seems as though talks are progressing for a fight against Joshua.
Eddie Hearn and Paul have historically not had the greatest of relationships, however, the Matchroom boxing promoter surprisingly stated that he would be open to the potential of that fight.
And in a recent update, Hearn dropped the bombshell that boxing’s most influential figure Turki Alalshikh is now part of the conversations and the fight is trending in a positive way.
‘The Problem Child’ met up with Alalshikh last week, seemingly in an attempt to patch up their relationship, and according to Hearn, Turki now wants to see Paul vs Joshua happen.
“Yeah (there have been discussions), I was with his excellency yesterday, obviously he’d met Jake Paul, I think he would like to do it, you know, but it’s mad enough to happen,” Hearn told Pro Boxing Fans.
“It’s not something we expected, it’s not something we’re targeting, if it’s offered to us I would be shocked if AJ didn’t accept it, why wouldn’t you?
“The plan for us is to fight Tyson Fury next year, if we can squeeze in Jake Paul along the way and you guys want AJ to end this whole process, he’ll gladly do it,” Hearn continued.
Anthony Joshua remains silent on potential Jake Paul fight
Although the former heavyweight champion is continuing to target a fight against Tyson Fury, a clash against Paul would undoubtedly pay him astronomical amounts of money.
Despite that, the 35-year-old has remained silent regarding a fight against Paul and hasn’t provided comment on his stance on that fight.
