Duties and distance: Both these things made Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens delay their honeymoon. The couple got married in 2023 but didn’t get the time to go on their romantic getaway until now. Biles announced it on social media a few days ago and wrote, “off to our honeymoon … 2 years later.” They are currently on a safari trip in a wildlife reserve in South Africa! In fact, the gymnast has been sharing her excitement at seeing wild animals like lions, leopards, and elephants on social media.
She has been having the time of her life roaming the wilderness in jeeps with binoculars in hand and Owens by her side. Even Biles’s sister, Adria, has been happy watching her sister’s social media posts. Under one such post, she commented, “yall are killin this whole safari vibe.”
But in a new post, the 27-year-old shared a carousel with two images and two videos. In the first image, one could see the couple posing beside a helicopter while in the second one, Biles was seated inside it, ready to go on an adventure. The third update on the carousel was a video of the ocean from the helicopter. The blue water and the sky would have almost looked one and the same if they weren’t different shades.
The last video on the carousel showed the couple exchanging a quick kiss. But it was the caption that caught people’s attention. Biles wrote, “I’ll travel anywhere w/ you.”
Owens responded with a hand-heart emoji with a flight symbol. But no, things don’t end here!

While soaking up the beauty of South Africa, Simone Biles had a thought—why just visit when you can stay forever? She took to Instagram, sharing a stunning shot of herself near a picturesque ocean-view beach, complete with palm trees, a cozy little house, and an open stretch of land. “Ugh, let’s just buy a house here,” she wrote
Sounds like a dream, right? Well, dreams come with price tags, and beachfront homes in South Africa don’t come cheap.
While the Olympic champion might have the star power to pull it off, Owens, with an estimated net worth of $2 million as of 2024, might need a few more NFL seasons to make that happen. But hey, even if the dream house is still TBD, their honeymoon is already priceless. And when they’re not casually considering million-dollar real estate, they’re enjoying the little moments that make it all worth it.
In fact, while on their trip, they also visited a daycare (that was started by a staff member who works at the hotel where the couple was staying). “Obert started this himself from the ground up,” wrote Biles on her Instagram story. “He just wanted to help the community and the children.” The daycare helps 87 children in the locality and gives them a safe space to learn and play.
Then, in another post, the couple stepped out for a romantic dinner, both dressed in matching black outfits, proving once again they’re in sync in every way. The doting wife captioned it simply: “Forever dinner date.” Whether they’re buying homes or just sharing a meal, one thing is clear—wherever they go, as long as they’re together, they’re already home.
