Simone Biles Issues Apology To Riley Gaines After Personal Attack, Backtracks On Transgender Support

U.S. Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles has apologized to OutKick’s Riley Gaines after comparing her body to a man in a personal attack that stemmed from an intense disagreement on transgender (biological male) athletes.

After Gaines threw criticism at a situation going on in Minnesota involving a softball team led by a transgender athlete that won the state championship, Biles hopped on social media herself to blast Gaines as “truly sick” and demanded her to “bully someone your own size, which would ironically be male.”

Fast forward a few days later, and Biles is now apologizing to Gaines for her attack. And not just, but she’s also backtracking from her support of transgenders in female sports.

“I wanted to follow up from my last tweets. I’ve always believed competitive equity and inclusivity are both essential in sport,” tweeted Biles. “The current system doesn’t adequately balance these important principles, which often leads to frustration and heated exchanges, and it didn’t help for me to get personal with Riley, which I apologize for.”

And then things get even more interesting (emphasis mine) …

‘These are sensitive, complicated issues that I truly don’t have the answers or solutions to, but I believe it starts with empathy and respect,” stated Biles. “I was not advocating for policies that compromise fairness in women’s sports. My objection is to be singling out children for public scrutiny in ways that feel personal and harmful.”

Oh yeah … she’s backtracking, folks. You can read her statement in its entirety here:

Riley Gaines rolled Simone Biles up like a cigarette and smoked her like a scene out of the Wild, Wild West — what a rolling!
