Simone Biles, Sha’Carri Richardson among 2025 Met Gala host committee members

Gymnastics superstar Simone Biles will be dressing to impress this May, with the 11-time Olympic medallist set to serve as a member of the 2025 Met Gala host committee, Vogue magazine announced Tuesday (4 February).

Biles and husband Jonathan Owens, who plays for the Chicago Bears in the NFL, will join two other Olympians, including honorary chair LeBron James, a three-time Olympic champion in basketball, and Sha’Carri Richardson, who won gold in the women’s 4x100m relay and silver in the 100m at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Formula One star Lewis Hamilton is one of the event’s co-chairs, while WNBA player Angel Reese will serve alongside Biles on the host committee. The Met Gala is scheduled for 5 May.

The 2025 event is part of an exhibition called “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Gala’s dress code, also announced Tuesday by Vogue, is “Tailored for You,” which is “a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and is purposefully designed to provide guidance and invite creative interpretation,” according to the iconic fashion magazine.

Biles previously attended the Met Gala in 2021. She also graced the cover of Vogue in the summer of 2020.
