Eddie Hearn has revealed in an interview that the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight is more likely to happen now than ever before.

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have been pitted against each other for nearly ten years, with rumoured agreements and social media deadlines punctuating this long rivalry between the two British heavyweight superstars.

The Matchroom boss, speaking to Sky Sports Boxing, said Joshua is ready to make a fight with Fury after coming back from his elbow surgery and that the ball is in Fury’s court.

Hearn said: “AJs got to have a little keyhole surgery on an elbow. He’ll be back post September.”

He continued: “When we talk about big fights – this fight is the biggest fight – not just in British boxing, in world boxing by a mile. I just feel like it’s time, this is the moment. We’re reliant upon Tyson Fury, [but] we’re ready to go.”

With Fury teasing a return to the ring on social media twice already this year, Hearn believes that he will not be able to resist the temptation to come back and take on ‘AJ’.

He said of Fury: “He’s a competitive so and so, and I just know in his mind he’ll want to dance with Anthony Joshua. So, dust those shoes off and let’s make it happen.”

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury

The circumstances and relationships surrounding this fight have changed drastically since it was first proposed. Neither man holds a belt and Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn have a recently reconciled relationship that has opened the door for many cross promotional matchups already.

Joshua’s promoter believes this will be the key to the fight being made as easily as ‘one phone call’.

Hearn said: “Honestly, one phone call. Previously one had a belt, one was the challenger. One was unified, me and Frank Warren never spoke, me and Tyson Fury didn’t get on. That ship’s sailed now, and it really is one phone call just to say, Look, here are the terms, you’re both not champions at the moment but you’re both huge stars – let’s just get on with it and make it happen.’”

He concluded: “So, fingers crossed, but I’m quietly confident.”

Anthony Joshua to undergo surgery THIS WEEK as Eddie Hearn reveals ‘encouraging’ update with ‘big tease’ Tyson Fury

Another option has also emerged for AJ’s next fight

ANTHONY JOSHUA is to have surgery on his elbow THIS WEEK – as talks to finally fight “big tease” Tyson Fury move a step closer.

Joshua, 35, is yet to return since his September knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois, 27, with a secret injury delaying his comeback.

AJ has since revealed the setback was caused by a problem with his elbow – which promoter Eddie Hearn reveals is due to be fixed this week.

Hearn told SunSport: “He just goes back into camp and just can’t fire on all cylinders consistently.

“So he can go back, have a couple of sessions, bit of soreness in the elbow.

“They tried to let it rest and recover and they’ve told him that I think it’s this week, he has a small keyhole surgery in the arm.

“Clear out, and it’s four-six weeks, he’s good to go. So I think we’re looking post-September.”

Following Joshua’s loss and Fury’s double defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, 38, last year, it set up the beaten Brits to finally settle their overdue score.

That was until Fury announced a shock retirement – the fourth of his career – in January only one month after Usyk won their rematch.

But the unpredictable Gypsy King has since ended his social media silence to begin hinting at a comeback – leaving Hearn hopeful.

The promoter said: “Tyson Fury is a big tease, everyday I open up Instagram like today and he’s got his wraps on saying he’s done 12 rounds.

“He looks super fit, Tyson Fury, he looks like he’s ready to go now! Which is encouraging, but obviously probably the delay that AJ’s got is a blessing, to be honest with you.

“One, you’ve got Usyk against Dubois coming up so that gives you a little bit of time.

“And number two, you’ve got Tyson Fury who could potentially come back to the ring so it’s gonna be interesting to see what plays out.”

Turki Alalshikh’s introduction to boxing and his deep Saudi pockets have helped bridge the gap between Hearn and long-time rival Frank Warren.

The previously warring promoters even share the sports streaming platform DAZN now – paving the way for talks between AJ and Fury.

Hearn admitted: “I’d be lying if I said we haven’t discussed it socially, because obviously everyone’s desperate to make it happen.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua

“But, no one said, ‘Oh, I think it’s coming, I think he’s coming back.’ But at the same time, he’s training.

Tyson Fury is a big tease, every day I open up Instagram like today and he’s got his wraps on saying he’s done 12 rounds. He looks super fit, Tyson Fury, he looks like he’s ready to go now! Which is encouraging

“And I feel like with Tyson Fury over the years, you’ve seen him not training and balloon out of shape and then it takes him a long time to come back.

“Now it looks like he’s either ready to fight or he’s ready to begin camp, which is hugely encouraging. But I just don’t think he’ll be able to leave it alone, if I’m honest with you.

“Because, the money’s one thing, but just the occasion and the challenge, and he’s a competitor, he’s a winner. And I just can’t believe he’s gonna let it slide.”

While Fury is Joshua & Co’s main target, Hearn warned they will await the result of Dubois’ July 19 rematch with Usyk at Wembley.

Hearn is adamant AJ will fight before the year ends – with or without Fury.

He warned: “Next couple of months, if there’s no movement, we fight.

“I mean there’s no way AJ’s not fighting this year. So who that will be? I can’t tell you.

“I mean, that’s the million dollar question at all times, but I think more importantly is, do we get any news from Fury in the next four, six, eight weeks?

“If we do, we’ll fight him this year. If not, we’ll fight and then maybe he comes back next year, who knows?

“But I’d be lying if I said we weren’t desperate to see him return. But, at the same time we can’t just wait around and see what happens.”

Vitor Belfort wants Jon Jones to fight Anthony Joshua under the rules of his latest invention.

The former UFC champion is confident he can create ‘never seen before’ pay-per-view numbers with a new hybrid glove that he hopes to introduce to UFC CEO Dana White.

Belfort wants to spearhead a new combat sport, offering MMA fighters an equal chance of winning when they transition to the sweet science.

He has patented a new glove, featuring traditional padding on top exactly like a boxing glove but with the fingers exposed to allow clinching.

The weight of the glove will depend on whoever is using it, running from eight to 12 ounces.

“I would get Jon Jones [and say], ‘Let’s challenge the British fighter, Anthony Joshua,’” Belfort said on The Ariel Helwani show, speaking on his new idea.

Belfort has previously urged Jones to avoid a fight with Briton Tom Aspinall to unify the UFC heavyweight division, insisting that ‘Bones’ should focus on new opportunities to define his legacy.

“Let’s ask him to come and box with these gloves on,” Belfort added. “No fingers exposed, it’s not dirty boxing, you’re just going to use your hands.

“You guys will box 12, three-minute rounds, but the rules are you will be able to grab his hand and head, and punch him in the clinch.

“I think that would be the fight that would break pay-per-views and go viral, especially now with Dana [White] promoting boxing.”

UFC President White announced his new venture into boxing in March, alongside WWE boss Nick Khan and Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh.

The 55-year-old will promote Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford in September on the same weekend as UFC 320 in Mexico.

“We have to level up and create a 50/50,” Belfort continued. “We MMA athletes always went there and boxed with them.

“Now, let’s meet in the middle. Jon Jones is the perfect guy to make that fight on [my] gloves, and if we do this the numbers will rise to the top pay-per-views, never seen before.

“People should respect me for everything that I’ve called before and it happened.

“Some people have the authority to ask for things. I know if MMA and boxing meet together, it’s going to be a business.

“I want to bring this to Dana. I think Dana should stop promoting fights between boxing and MMA.

“Imagine this fight in the cage – Jon Jones vs Anthony Joshua.”

Anthony Joshua

Belfort, a pioneer of mixed martial arts, has mixed it up with the best fighters on earth, including Jones, Anderson Silva and Michael Bisping.

The Brazilian star fought in MMA for 22 years, before retiring in 2018 after losing to Lyoto Machida, and his 13 first-round UFC wins is the most in the organisation’s history.

This past weekend, the three-weight contender was thrust back into the spotlight after being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame during UFC 315 in Montreal, Canada.

This has handed him the platform to speak more on his ambitious plans to combine the sports of MMA and boxing.

“The boxing clinch is one thing,” he added. “The MMA clinch is different. We’re not going to kick the boxers. We’re not going to take them down.

“But let’s see who has the best hands. Who can fight? Who can endure the grinding? That would be my dream, to combine… ”

Belfort concluded by confirming that he is not officially finished with competing.

The UFC 12 winner mentioned names like Silva and Jake Paul as potential names he would be back into the cage with, as it ‘has to make sense.’

The Gypsy King continues to drop hints about his fighting future

TYSON FURY has ramped up training ahead of a potential return to the ring.

The Gypsy King announced his fifth retirement from the sport in January just a few weeks after his second-straight loss to pound-for-pound king Oleksandr Usyk.

But the Wythenshawe warrior performed an unsurprising U-turn late last month in an expletive-filled rant at his two-time conqueror.

And the 35-year-old has been putting in some hard work in the gym since returning from a luxury holiday in the Bahamas.

On Wednesday afternoon, the former two-time heavyweight champion shared a post-training snap of himself, dad John and cousin Ricky Gorman to his Instagram page.

His accompanying caption read: “Great work today in gym 12 rounds of boxing with @gypsyjohnfury @ricky_gorman__ @gypsyprince.”

Scores of the fan favourite’s followers commented on the post, with on saying: “Coming back.

“Another said: He’s back!!”

“And another said: “Man is back like a boomerang.”

One remarked: One more ride. Let’s go.”

Another chimed in: “Get up!”

Awaiting Fury is a long-overdue £300million showdown with Brit rival Anthony Joshua, which many thought was a sure thing before his fifth retirement.

But the fight won’t be happening anytime soon as Joshua is set to go under the knife to address a long-standing elbow injury.

When quizzed about his ring return, AJ told DAZN: “I’m trying to get my body right.

“I have got to actually have a little surgery on my elbow.

“A small surgery sometime in May. I’m finalising the details.

“That will see me out of the gym for maybe six to eight weeks, and then when I’m healed, I will be back.”

UFC legend dreams of booking Jon Jones vs. Anthony Joshua fight in new hybrid sport

UFC legend Vitor Belfort has some big dreams for his life after fighting.

Brazil’s Belfort debuted with the UFC way back in 1997. He enjoyed several prominent runs with the promotion. His final run came to an end after a knockout loss to Lyoto Machida in 2018. Highlights of his resume include a light heavyweight title win in 2004, multiple title challenges, and victories over stars like Luke Rockhold, Dan Henderson, and Michael Bisping.

In the end, Belfort was impressive enough in the Octagon to earn a spot in the UFC Hall of Fame, which was announced during UFC 315 last Saturday.

The Hall of Fame induction put Belfort right back in the centre of the MMA news cycle, and during a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, he shared some pretty interesting plans for the next phase of his career.

Not long ago, Belfort patented a new combat sports glove that is effectively a boxing glove that leaves the fingers exposed to allow clinching.

Belfort hopes to use this glove to launch a new hybrid combat sport — one that he believes would give boxers and MMA fighters equal footing.

The UFC legend explained the potential rules as follows:

“I patented this glove, as you know,” he said. “It’s creating a boxing fight where we MMA guys can grab the hands, the clinch, no elbows, no takedowns, just hands… Let’s see who has the best hands.

“The boxing clinch is one thing,” he added. “The MMA clinch is different. We’re not going to kick the boxers. We’re not going to take them down. But let’s see who has the best hands. Who can fight? Who can endure the grinding? That would be my dream, to combine these sports, as a hobby for both athletes.”

Former UFC champ wants Jon Jones vs. Anthony Joshua mega fight

Belfort admitted he will need help to get this new hybrid combat sport of the ground. However, the Brazilian hopes to one day book a “dream” fight between two-division UFC champ Jon Jones, and heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua.

“Hopefully one day I can find a promoter that will let me co-promote with them and bring this to reality,” Belfort said. “I would love to see let’s say Jon Jones fight Anthony Joshua. That would be a dream fight for me, and I believe for you too — but not just boxing. Jones would be able to bring the clinch, grab the guy. I really believe now [under these rules], it really becomes a 50-50.”

What do you think of this idea from Vitor Belfort?

Concerns over Anthony Joshua’s focus and priorities have resurfaced among boxing fans after the former heavyweight champion shared a new workout video that many believe misses the mark, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

In the clip, which shows Joshua performing intense neck strengthening exercises, fans expressed worry that the British-Nigerian fighter might be concentrating on the wrong aspects of his training as he attempts to revive his career following a damaging defeat to Daniel Dubois.

Joshua, once the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO heavyweight champion of the world, suffered a brutal knockout loss to Dubois in September last year, a defeat that raised serious questions about his future in the sport.

Though promoter Eddie Hearn has kept hopes of a possible Tyson Fury showdown alive, the silence on that front has only fueled speculation about Joshua’s readiness for another marquee bout.

The training video, shared by Boxing Kingdom on X, captured the 34-year-old working on his neck strength, performing a strenuous “neck bridge” routine. The post was simply captioned “Anthony Joshua working on his neck strength over the weekend.”

The exercise involves balancing the body’s weight on the neck while rocking back and forth on the floor, a movement that is used by fighters to improve resistance to head shots.

While the science behind neck strengthening in boxing is well-documented to be helping to reduce whiplash and absorb punches more effectively, Joshua’s clip has clearly failed to inspire confidence.

Though the method is not uncommon among boxers with Canelo Alvarez being one example of its advocates and the science behind neck strengthening in boxing is well-documented to be helping to reduce whiplash and absorb punches more effectively but Joshua’s fans were far from convinced as it clearly failed to inspire their confidence.

“This workout hurts athletes more than it helps them btw, just letting everyone know,” one fan with username @itsdafanta warned, questioning both the effectiveness and safety of the routine. While the exercise has its benefits when supervised and performed correctly, it also poses risks to the cervical spine and surrounding muscles if not done properly.

Another user named Dave Cunningham, @dconsec, offered a more cautionary take, advising others not to try it at home, “For everyone watching… don’t do this.” The light-hearted tone belied a deeper concern over injury risk, particularly for those unfamiliar with such advanced techniques.

But some fans weren’t concerned about the safety of the exercise, they were more focused on what they saw as a misplaced training priority. Top Striker with username @champ_official1 remarked, “He needs to work on his defence and movement,” highlighting recurring flaws in Joshua’s performances, especially his limited footwork and defensive awareness.

The criticism didn’t stop there. Another user, @FlawedPlane, took a jab at Joshua’s perceived fragility, commenting, “Does he know any chin exercises?” The comment echoed a familiar narrative surrounding the Watford-born boxer, whose chin has been a topic of discussion since his shock loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019 and was again called into question after the multiple knockdowns he suffered against Dubois.

Adding to the pile-on, another viewer, @PapaGJS, questioned the point of the training altogether. “Hmm, can he find a way to fix that weak jaw of his?” the post read, underlining that some fans feel his problems are far more fundamental than neck strength.

Tyson Fury has a massive advantage over Anthony Joshua, according to a former world champion, who believes ‘The Gypsy King’ would get the better of a potential showdown.

While the pair are no longer at the pinnacle of the sport, the rivalry between them remains as fierce as ever.

Having conquered the world of boxing himself, Anthony Crolla knows all about what it takes to win monster fights. With that in mind, he’s the perfect person to give his take on what would be the biggest bout in British history.

In an exclusive interview with Sporf, via Free Bets, the former WBA lightweight champion explained: “I still think there’s a great chance it happens. The fight isn’t what it once was, but there’s no denying it’s an absolute mega fight still, and sells out any stadium around the world, whether it’s Old Trafford or Wembley. It’s one of the biggest fights in boxing.

“Going off recent form, you’ve got to fancy Tyson Fury, but Tyson is going to have a big break—obviously the weight is going to fluctuate, go up, he’s going to have to bring it back down—that probably makes it more of a level playing field.

“But I just think stylistically, Fury’s movement will cause Big AJ problems and I’d say Tyson wins via late stoppage or points.”

In his esteemed career, ‘Million Dollar’ gave the Manchester fans many a happy memory. Most notably, Crolla destroyed Ismael Barroso, who was renowned as one of the biggest punchers in boxing.

Now, with his legacy carved in stone, the retired athlete has started to pass his wisdom down to the next generation, taking a group of fighters, including his brother William Crolla, out to Benidorm to enhance their skills.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua

While most travel to the Spanish tourist destination to party and enjoy Take That tribute acts, the ex-world champion and his boxers have been working harder than ever as they prepare for their returns to the ring.

Crolla enthused, “William is good, he had two fights in six weeks. He had a little holiday himself after that, so he’s come back and he’s straight back into it, looking to improve. He had a really good learning fight last time out, and he’s getting better all the time.

“He’s alongside Bobby Faulkner and Callum Bradley, who’ve got fights coming up, so they’re at a very serious part of camp. It’s nice for fighters to get away, a change of scenery.

“I always got told by my coach, ‘You learn a lot more about your fighters when you’re away with them, because you see how they are away from the gym’.”

“Everyone Watching…Don’t Do This”: Anthony Joshua’s New Workout Video Leaves Fans Concerned

Former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has surprised fans with a new training clip that hints at a renewed focus and intensity. The British star is coming off a lopsided defeat to Daniel Dubois in September of last year—a setback that left many questioning his future. Despite the loss, hopes for a long-awaited all-British showdown with the now-retired Tyson Fury continue to linger among boxing fans.

However, instead of filling people with confidence about his boxing capability at the tail end of his boxing career, Joshua’s new workout video seems to have sent fans into a state of worry. This comes after Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, showed openness to making the Fury fight on a moment’s notice. Yet, there doesn’t seem to be any development on that front, besides Joshua’s latest video.

Why did Anthony Joshua cause concerns with his training clip?

In a clip shared by Boxing Kingdom on X, captioned “Anthony Joshua working on his neck strength over the weekend,” the Watford native is seen performing an intense neck exercise, neck bridges, as part of his training routine. Bent over backwards on the ground, Joshua supports most of his body weight on his head, rocking back and forth in a strenuous effort to build neck strength.

Others, including Canelo Alvarez, are known to do similar workouts in their training camp. While these workouts can be safe when done correctly with proper form and moderation, there are risks involved that can cause injuries to the cervical spine, muscles, or nerves. The exercise itself helps strengthen a fighter’s neck, which can increase stability, improve posture, reduce the risk of neck injuries, and improve range of motion, among others.

Despite the potential benefits, however, fans quickly started expressing caution in the comment section of the post.

Fans suggest Joshua needs to work on another part of his body

Anthony Joshua

Since the clip came to light, hundreds of fans flooded the comments to share their thoughts. One user didn’t seem to be a big fan of the workout. “This workout hurts athletes more than it helps them btw, just letting everyone know,” the user wrote. However, Joshua has been a trained athlete for decades and is performing the exercise under professional supervision, ensuring that it’s done safely and with proper technique.

Meanwhile, this user had a message of caution for his fellow X users. “For everyone watching…don’t do this 😅,” the user commented. It goes without saying, the exercise involves risk, which could cause major bodily harm.

The next user ignored the neck workout and suggested what Joshua really needs to work on. “[He] needs to work on his defence and movement,” the user wrote. This is likely a response rooted in Joshua’s performance against Dubois, where ‘AJ’ was dropped multiple times en route to a brutal knockout loss.

Another user suggests Joshua should focus on his chin instead. “Does he know any chin exercises?” the user wrote. This once again highlights Joshua’s vulnerability, particularly his glass chin, which contributed to the multiple knockdowns in his fight with Dubois.

Even the next user asked Joshua to focus on his chin. “Hmm, can he find a way to fix that weak jaw of his?” the user wrote. While the exercise might not help Joshua’s chin, it can help reduce the damage his neck may take from a knockout.

That said, Anthony Joshua doesn’t inspire confidence in fans with his neck exercise. However, it would be interesting to see whether they help him win if he ever plans to return to the ring. What did you think about the workout?
