A massive fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua is now set for 2026.

Jake Paul has made it clear that he intends to fight Anthony Joshua in 2026 and even hopes to defeat the former heavyweight champion.

Joshua called Paul after the YouTuber-turned-boxer shamelessly called out AJ on his podcast.

Additionally, it is reported that the two verbally agreed to fight next year, with Paul threatening to knock out Joshua while making a nasty jab at him.

Jake Paul on Anthony Joshua fight

Speaking told Ariel Helwani: “Yeah, we talked on the phone for like ten minutes and we’re both down. I said 2026 and he was like, ‘Alright, let’s get it.’

“We’re gonna make it happen so I think that’s going to be a mega-fight next year and something fun to test my skills at heavyweight.

“But I think his chin’s gone and especially if he fights another time or two in between the end of 2026.

“I love Anthony, he’s always supported me, I’ve always supported him but I just do believe I can beat him in a fight.”

Mike Tyson controversially returned at the age of 58 in Paul’s final bout, which took place at heavyweight.

However, Paul won an eight-round decision in Texas, and a massive 100 MILLION people watched on Netflix.

Prior to his September KO loss to 27-year-old Daniel Dubois, he weighed 227 pounds, which is still two stone less than Joshua’s weight.

Paul, now makes a comeback on June 28 against former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., 39, at the 200-pound cruiserweight limit of 14st 4lb.

Nigerian heavyweight Efe Ajagba has declared that Anthony Joshua “won’t last long” in the ring with him, issuing yet another challenge to his fellow countryman in what appears to be growing animosity from the Delta State-born pugilist towards the former two-time world champion, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

This comes despite Joshua recently backing Ajagba against Martin Bakole, showing support that has seemingly gone unreciprocated.

Ajagba made this bold claim recently, setting his sights on the former world champion who’s trying to make one last run in the sport.

Joshua has had a tough time lately, getting stopped by Dubois in September 2024. That loss came after two defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022.

Speaking to Morson Sport about his chances against Joshua, Ajagba was brutally frank, “Yeah, 100% (I’ll beat him worse than Dubois). He won’t last long.”

The 31-year-old Ajagba, who holds an impressive 20-1-1 record with 14 knockouts, has been on a warpath towards the top of the heavyweight division.

His recent majority draw with Martin Bakole in Riyadh did little to dampen his ambitions, and he seems particularly focused on securing a fight with Joshua.

This growing rivalry stands in stark contrast to the camaraderie once displayed between former Nigerian UFC champions Kamaru Usman and Israel Adesanya, who famously refused to fight each other despite competing in neighbouring weight classes.

Usman once declared, “I’d rather two Africans with belts as opposed to one African with two belts,” highlighting the brotherhood that existed between the two MMA stars.

Ajagba, however, appears to have no such reservations about facing Joshua, even questioning the former champion’s Nigerian credentials.

Following his clash with Bakole, Ajagba dismissed Joshua’s Nigerian heritage, saying, “He’s not a real Nigerian. He might have just been there and that’s where his parents came from, but for me, I’m the original Nigerian, to be honest.”

He further added, “Not Joshua, that man has not experienced Nigeria. Almost all of his life has been spent in the UK, that’s why he hasn’t experienced it.”

When informed that Joshua had recently been seen training in Nigeria to enthusiastic local support, Ajagba was dismissive; “He just goes there for social media content. It’s ok, it’s all good – but I’m the original Nigerian.”

The comments highlight a growing tension between the two heavyweights, particularly striking given that Joshua had publicly backed Ajagba earlier this year ahead of his bout with Bakole.

Anthony Joshua

“Two giants of Africa coming together to collide. It’s going to be an interesting fight,” Joshua had said at the time.

“Efe is a good boxer, and obviously, I’m going to support Efe, even though he doesn’t support me. I’m backing him because we are from the same place, and I really want to see him do well.”

Ajagba, ranked No.10 by The Ring magazine, has been in impressive form since his lone professional defeat to Frank Sanchez in October 2021, winning five consecutive fights before the draw with Bakole.

He has previously outlined his championship ambitions, saying, “I have the abilities, I have the skills, I have the power, everything to become a heavyweight champion.”

Joshua, meanwhile, is looking to rebuild after his September defeat to Daniel Dubois. At 35, the Watford-born fighter with Nigerian heritage is running out of time to reclaim his position at the heavyweight division’s summit.

With Ajagba’s latest challenge, a potential all-Nigerian heavyweight clash could be on the horizon – one that appears to be fuelled more by rivalry than the brotherhood often celebrated between African combat sports stars.

British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua has emerged richer than England football captain Harry Kane and heavyweight rival Tyson Fury as his net worth has soared to €232m, according to the newly published Sunday Times Rich List.

The two-time heavyweight world champion has seen his earnings increase by a whopping €24m from €208m last year to €232m currently.

Joshua has also been listed among the wealthiest under-40s in the UK, sitting in 24th place.

Despite his impressive financial standing, Joshua isn’t the number one athlete on the Sunday Times’ list.

That accolade belongs to golf star Rory McIlroy. The 36-year-old is worth a jaw-dropping €304m compared to his value of €263m a year ago.

McIlroy’s earnings saw a huge spike last month after he finally got his hands on the Masters, and in doing so, achieved a career grand slam. The win saw him scoop €3.68m, which saw his total PGA Tour prize money go beyond €117m.

Joshua’s rise on the rich list has seen him stay ahead of the likes of Harry Kane, whose €117m value placed him at No.38 in the list. The only other name included on the staggering list from the world of sport was Andy Murray, who placed at 35 with €128m.

The boxing sensation hasn’t fought since suffering a devastating knockout to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium last September. It looked like the pair would square off in an immediate rematch, but ‘AJ’ suffered a slight setback after picking up some minor injuries in the first encounter.

Over the last few years, the heavyweight boxer has become accustomed to pocketing life-changing paydays. It was reported that he earned around €35m for his second-round KO of Francis Ngannou last year.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua

Joshua reportedly banked a guaranteed €7m following his defeat to Dubois—but roughly took home around €29m in total following pay-per-view sales.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Tyson Fury was crowned the highest-paid boxer in 2024, ahead of rivals Oleksandr Usyk and Joshua, according to Sportico.

In total, the ‘Gypsy King’ pocketed a total sum of $147m (€137m)—with $140m (€131m) coming from salary/winnings, whilst the final $7m (€6m) came from endorsements.

From endorsement deals alone in the world of boxing, Joshua earned the joint-most, featuring alongside Jake Paul.

However, in terms of the highest-paid athletes in 2024, ‘AJ’ didn’t feature in the top 20. Instead, the Brit was placed at 30, pocketing a grand total of $60m (€56m) last year, with $50m (€47m) coming through salary/winnings.

Jake Paul has revealed exactly what former world heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, has told him about a potential rematch between ‘The Problem Child’ and Tyson’s younger brother, Tommy Fury.

Paul first fought Tommy back in February 2023 in Saudi Arabia. The bout is still Jake’s only loss, as he suffered a split-decision defeat.

The social media sensation’s most recent bout came against heavyweight legend Mike Tyson in a fight that saw a record audience tune in to watch on Netflix. Despite the great anticipation surrounding the fight, Tyson looked a shell of his former self and barely landed a punch before losing a wide unanimous decision verdict.

Ironically, though, ‘Iron Mike’ was not originally Paul’s first choice of opponent. Tommy Fury was reportedly offered £6 million to take the rematch against Jake, but declined.

Paul’s next in-ring outing will come on the 28th of June against former world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. However, always keen to keep his name in the headlines, the YouTube superstar has had plenty to say about his plans beyond the showdown with Chavez.

A rematch with Tommy Fury is certainly something that Paul is open to – and Tommy appears to be on the same page. ‘TNT’ returned to action earlier this month following almost two years out with a hand injury, in a win against Bosnian fighter Kenan Hanjalic.

Shortly after picking up the win, Tommy called out Paul, assuring him that he was 100% ready to commit to a second fight between the pair.

Tommy declared:

“Jake Paul’s a b**** and he’s running scared. Jake, the hand’s fixed now, baby. The hand’s fixed. I fought a guy (Hanjalic) in here tonight who’s had over 100 amateur fights and is experienced as hell, and he’s as tough as teak.If Jake Paul wants to step inside this ring, I guarantee you next time I’ll knock you spark out.”

Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Paul talked positively about the idea of a rematch with Tommy, but admitted to being concerned over whether the duo can get a deal over the line.

“I think the Fury fight will happen in the next 12 months, yeah. He just has to be realistic about what he’s worth, right? He just had a free fight on DAZN that tanked, couldn’t sell the tickets in wherever he was like a 1,000-person venue, and he’s just negotiating like he’s God. Again, I have ten names waiting to fight me in multiple different sports, MMA, boxing, all this stuff.”

Paul then went on to leak details of a private DM exchange that he had had with Tyson Fury. Despite Tommy winning the first fight, Team Fury seem to acknowledge that the rematch with Jake is the biggest opportunity available to the former Love Island star.

Tyson allegedly stated as much in a DM to Paul. The 28-year-old explained:

“I DM’d Tyson Fury because Tyson was like, ‘You guys need to make this happen now. I was like, ‘Tyson, you’ve got to put your brother in check here. He’s not going to get this money or this offer anywhere else.'”

Even though the rematch could be seriously lucrative, Paul still has his doubts that Tommy will actually agree to fight him again.

“He’s been boxing since he was six years old, it’s going to be the same stuff, same coach, his dumbass dad. He hasn’t got any better, so I just can’t wait. Seriously, I can’t wait to get in there with him, and whenever we can make that happen, it’s going to be Christmas Day for me.”

Shields, 30, is best known for her boxing accolades. The Flint, Michigan native has held titles in five weight classes, and is considered one of the best female boxers of all time. However, several years ago, she boldly transitioned into MMA.

All three of Shields’ MMA bouts occurred under the Professional Fighters League (PFL) banner. In her first, in 2021, she weathered some early adversity to stop Brittney Elkin in round three. In her next fight, later the same year, she lost a close decision to Abigail Montes. Her final fight occurred last year, after a long hiatus, when she beat Kelsey DeSantis by decision.

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show on Monday, Shields revealed she will not compete in MMA again.

She claimed that the PFL offered her the opportunity to fight one more time, but she decided to turn the offer down, and shift her focus back to boxing.

“I was offered one more fight with the PFL and it would have been against a girl who was probably on my level,” she said.

“MMA is done, sweetheart,” she added. “I don’t enough time to train for it. It takes six months, eight months to just get ready to defend takedowns. I got a lot better, I put in time, I got my arm broken twice. It was fun and I enjoyed every fight. I did.’

Why is Claressa Shields retiring from MMA?

Claressa Shields

Claressa Shields revealed that her new relationship factored into her decision to retire from MMA.

“My family never wanted me to do it,” she said. “I did it because I wanted to prove a point and I proved that point.

“I got in my new relationship, and he can’t even handle me boxing. He’s going crazy when I’m fighting, even when I’m dominating. We had a talk and he was like ‘I can not handle MMA.’ He was like ‘can you please not do that anymore.’ I was like ‘Ok.’”

Shields should be proud of the success she had in MMA. Very few boxers have attempted what she did, let alone with any success.

However, she admits she did hope to win a PFL title.

“I did have aspirations to become PFL MMA world champion, and having a fight with Kayla Harrison one day, or Larissa Pacheco,” she said. “I did have those dreams, I did have those aspirations, but just not enough time. I’m great already in boxing. To be that great in MMA, I would need to train at least three, four years consistently.”

Congrats to Claressa Shields on a great MMA career.

Sorry, Cyborg! Five-division boxing world champion, Claressa Shields, retires from MMA – ‘It was too hard’

Claressa Shields, the “G.W.O.A.T.” (Greatest Woman of All Time), today (Mon., May 19, 2025) retired from mixed martial arts (MMA).

The five-division boxing world champion announced her departure from the sport after compiling a 2-1 record in a three-year span. “T-Rex” (2-1) competed three times exclusively under the Professional Fighters League (PFL) banner, debuting for the promotion back in June 2021.

“MMA is done,” Shields told Ariel Helwani. “It was fun, but I don’t have enough time to train for it. It takes six to eight months just to get ready to defend takedowns. Even though I got a lot better and put in the time, I broke my arm twice. It was fun, and I enjoyed every fight I did.

“It takes a lot of time to train for MMA — time that I don’t have,” Shields revealed. “I had aspirations of becoming a PFL MMA world champion and fighting Kayla Harrison or Larissa Pacheco one day. I had those dreams and aspirations, but I just don’t have enough time. I’m already great in boxing, and to be great like that in MMA, I would have to train consistently for at least three to four years. I did really well in MMA. It was fun, but it was too hard.

“My family never wanted me to do it,” Shields concluded. “I did it because I wanted to prove a point, and I proved that point — to myself three times; though you could say twice because I won twice. I got into a new relationship, and he can’t even handle me boxing. We had a talk, and he was like, ‘I cannot handle MMA.’ He said, ‘Can you please not do that anymore?’ I was like, ‘Okay.’”

Shields debuted with a stoppage victory over Brittney Elkin in June 2021 (watch highlights), but ran into Abby Montes next and lost a split decision in Oct. 2021. Her final MMA bout was a split decision win over Kelsey DeSantis at the “PFL vs. Bellator” super card back in Feb. 2024.

Unfortunately, Shields will be unable to fight MMA legend, Cris Cyborg, inside the smart cage, but with Cyborg taking more and more boxing matches nowadays (and technically having more KOs than Shields), maybe the two can settle their beef inside the squared circle?

Until then, Shields will defend her undisputed Heavyweight title against Lani Daniels on July 26, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan.

Claressa Shields, two-time Olympic gold medalist and current three-division undisputed boxing champion, joins Ariel in the studio and gets into her upcoming bout against Lani Daniels, only sparring men, returning to the Olympics, Ade Oladipo’s comments on the quality of her recent opponents, her beef with MVP and Jake Paul, Shadasia Green, Taylor-Serrano 3 on Netflix, her relationship with Alycia Baumgardner, her suspension, fighting in the PFL, and much more.

Mike Tyson lost his fight against influencer Jake Paul, but the 58-year-old earned widespread admiration for his resilience through the eight-round match.

However, his former trainer, Jeff Fenech, has expressed regret after urging people to bet on the legendary boxer to win the match against Paul.

Mike Tyson called the experience a victory, sharing gratitude for stepping into the ring again despite his health challenges.

Jeff Fenech Admits Regret Over Mike Tyson’s Loss To Jake Paul

In an interview with Australia Nine’s “Today,” Jeff Fenech, former trainer to Tyson, admitted he was overwhelmed with calls after urging “so many” people to bet on the boxer in his fight against Jake Paul last Friday.

Following the highly anticipated heavyweight clash, held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which ended with Paul, 27, securing a unanimous decision victory over the 58-year-old Tyson after eight rounds, Fenech expressed his regret, stating, “Yeah, I was [surprised].”

“I had so many people ring me, and so many people lost money because of me. I’m pretty embarrassed,” he added, per the New York Post.

Despite Tyson’s defeat, Fenech insisted the fight wasn’t just about the result.

“It may have been a terrible fight, but what he represented and what he was trying to do isn’t just to show people he can fight, he’s trying to show people that at 58 you can work hard,” he explained. “He’s changed his whole life around and I think that’s what it’s about. The rest of the stuff far outweighs the fight.”

Jeff Fenech Warns Mike Tyson Against Returning To The Ring

Fenech, who previously worked with Tyson in the past, including his final fight in 2005 against Kevin McBride, after which Tyson retired with a record of 50 wins and six losses, believed that Iron Mike had the potential to secure one of the fastest wins of his career if he approached it correctly.

However, in the aftermath of Tyson’s loss to Paul, Fenech revealed he has spoken with the former heavyweight champion several times, discouraging Tyson from stepping into the ring again.

“My advice would be that you don’t have to do that again,” Fenech stated. “He’s talking about being sick … but at 58 and working your body the way he did, it’s very difficult to stay healthy. Sometimes, you overdo it and burn your engine out.”

Still, Fenech remains impressed by Tyson’s transformation. He said, “For me, I’m so proud of how Mike has changed his life around and over 100 million people watched at home. Although all of us fight people can say what a terrible fight that was, most people think what a great job Mike Tyson did.”

The Legendary Boxer’s Current Trainer Also Expressed Surprise At His Loss

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul

Rafael Cordeiro, Tyson’s trainer, recently spoke about Saturday’s fight at AT&T Stadium, expressing gratitude that the boxing icon can now focus on spending quality time with his family after months of intense preparation.

“We worked for seven months for this moment. I really believed we had this victory before the fight. He never asked to give up,” Cordeiro shared, per the Daily Mail.

Despite the loss, Cordeiro emphasized Tyson’s enduring legacy: “He (Tyson) is the people’s champion. He has inspired many people outside the ring. Most importantly, Mike comes home to his loved ones.”

Mike Tyson Reveals Near-Death Experience After Losing His Fight With Jake Paul

In the lead-up to his boxing match with Paul, Tyson faced significant health challenges, including a severe ulcer flare-up that required the fight, originally slated for July 20, to be postponed.

Following the match, the boxing icon took to X to share a shocking revelation.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” he began. “I’m grateful for last night. No regrets about getting in the ring one last time. I almost died in June.”

Tyson added: “Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won. To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”

Fans Hail The Boxing Legend For Being An Inspiration After His Jake Paul Fight

In response to Tyson’s heartfelt post, Paul commented: “Love you, Mike. It was an honor. You’re an inspiration to us all.”

Fans also poured in with messages of admiration and respect for the boxing legend. “You’ll always be the greatest boxer of all time to me,” one fan wrote. “I watched you all my life. Nobody even comes close. Thank you for being you. I wish I could have met you in person.”

Another added: “You’re the GOAT Tyson. Hope you see me in other endeavors outside boxing again. Mike Tyson Mysteries comes to mind.”

Former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield recently revisited one of boxing’s most infamous moments in a TikTok video with his daughter, when Mike Tyson bit off a piece of his ear. The shocking incident occurred on June 28, 1997, during their highly anticipated rematch at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, leaving the boxing world stunned.

The rivalry began in November 1996, when Holyfield handed Tyson a crushing defeat in their first encounter. At the time, Tyson was just a year removed from his release from prison, wild and unpredictable. In the rematch, frustration boiled over for Tyson, who claimed Holyfield was using repeated headbutts that went unpunished.

Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson: Their relationship today

In a moment of infamy, Tyson bit off a chunk of Holyfield’s ear in the third round, then attempted to do the same to the other, resulting in his disqualification and cementing the bout as one of the most controversial in boxing history. It’s been 28 years since the incident, and the pair has hashed off their differences and even started a business together.

Regardless, Holyfield appeared in a video with his 20-year-old daughter Eve Holyfield, where Eve can be seen lip syncing Big Yavo’s song ‘Webbie Flow,’ especially the part where Yavo raps about Tyson biting off Holyfield’s ear. “Bi**h, I was broke, I hurt my wrist, I had to ice this bi**h/ Baby, you so fine, let me bite your ear, I’m on some Tyson s**t.”

WorldStar Hip Hop posted the clip on Instagram, with the caption reading, “Eve Holyfield, daughter of boxing legend #EvanderHolyfield, delivers a rap verse in #BigYavo’s track ‘Webbie Flow’ that references the infamous moment when Mike Tyson bit her father’s ear.” Since the clip came out, fans have taken to the comments section to share their thoughts on the matter.

Holyfield praised for his humor

Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson

Laughing off such an incident isn’t easy, even decades later. But Holyfield, now on good terms with Tyson, did just that, earning praise from fans for his grace and good humor. One user highlighted the bond fathers often have with their daughters. The user commented, “He’s a good sport for this… just shows dads are always soft on [their] daughters [and] gone do whatever [they] ask lol.” Interestingly, according to a June 2020 report from Boxing Scene, Holyfield said, “It [doesn’t] bother me. It cost me a lot of grief, but I’m glad it happened because it gave me an opportunity to talk about what forgiveness is.”

Another user simply praised Evander Holyfield for his sense of humor surrounding the entire thing. The user wrote, “He has a great sense of humor😂.” Talking about sense of humor, Tyson and Holyfield started a business together, introducing ‘Holy Ears,’ a line of ca***bis-infused edibles shaped like ears with a bite mark.

Someone else suggested that ‘The Real Deal’ did the video to make his daughter happy. The user commented, “Just a father making his daughter happy. ♥️💪🏾 Nothing to see here.” This video will also help her gain a significant following on Tik Tok.

The next user claimed that Holyfield didn’t want to laugh in the video, but could not help himself. The user wrote, “He did not wanna laugh at that, but it’s a bar! 🤣.” A lot of rappers reference boxers and their feats in their songs, like Kendrick Lamar references Terence Crawford in one of his raps.

This user could not believe Holyfield’s attitude towards the incident. The user wrote, “The fact that he can laugh about it is historical😂😂😂.” Well, it has been multiple decades, and he is clearly over it.

That said, it appears Eve Holyfield opened up doors to the past with her TikTok video with her father, Evander Holyfield. But the question is, what did you think about it?
