Undisputed world heavyweight champion Claressa Shields will defend her belts against IBF light heavyweight champion Lani Daniels on 26 July in Detroit.

Shields, 30, became the first undisputed women’s heavyweight champion with a unanimous points win over fellow American Danielle Perkins in February.

The two-time Olympic champion added the IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight titles to her WBC belt with her 16th professional win.

Shields added to her undisputed titles in middleweight and light-middleweight to become boxing’s first undisputed world champion in three weight classes.

Shields was suspended by the Michigan commission in February after she tested positive for marijuana following her defeat of Perkins.

The suspension was dissolved after evidence showed procedural errors occurred during the collection of Shields’ samples.

New Zealand’s Daniels, 36, is a former IBF heavyweight champion.

Anthony Joshua hasn’t fought since September last year.

That was when the former two-time world heavyweight champion suffered a devastating loss at the hands of IBF champion Daniel Dubois.

He was put down in the first round and then stopped in the fifth, ending a good run before then that included wins over Robert Helenius, Francis Ngannou and Otto Wallin.

Since then, ‘AJ’ has been recovering from minor injuries and recently revealed he is due to have elbow surgery this month, which will keep him out until later in the year.

Joshua is 35-years-old and has had 32 bouts, including tough nights against the likes of Andy Ruiz Jr, and two tight 12-round battles with Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022, so he likely only has a few fights left.

Speaking to BoxNation, he was asked who is on his current hit list.

“Potential fight with Fury, hopefully that happens. I think the industry should not be left without it. Those interested should be able to witness it. I think a potential flight with [Martin] Bakole, [Agit] Kabayel. Who else is there, [Deontay] Wilder?”

Any of those would excite fans, though Wilder only returns for the first time in a year in June after a string of losses, and Fury is currently retired. ‘AJ’ was then asked about a fight with the winner of the undisputed showdown in July between Usyk and Dubois.

“Do you want me to be completely honest with you, Parker deserves it more than me right now?”

Parker, who Joshua beat in 2018, is mandatory for Usyk’s WBO belt so will likely get an immediate shot at the winner.

One British heavyweight has claimed that Anthony Joshua‘s career is almost over and that he will beat him in more impressive fashion than Daniel Dubois.

Dubois stopped Joshua inside five rounds back in September 2024. It was the most impressive night of the young IBF champion’s career after two previous knockout wins over Filip Hrgovic and Jarrell Miller, and it marked one of the worst nights in the ring for Joshua.

He was also put down hard in the first round and never looked like becoming a three-time world champion. It was the fourth loss of his career following an upset stoppage loss to Andy Ruiz Jr in June 2019, which he avenged with a wide points win in December that year, and two points losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022.

Joshua is out recovering from injury, but insists he will be back for one final run in the ring, but a British heavyweight rival has lashed out at ‘AJ.’

That is Hughie Fury, who believes he’s put himself in the frame for a fight with Joshua. Fury has had 33 fights, won 30 and lost 3 to Joseph Parker, Alexandr Pvetkin and Kubrat Pulev. Last time out in early April, he beat Dan Garber by fifth round KO.

Speaking to Morson Sport, Fury had praise for Joshua but replied ‘100%’ when asked if he could beat him more emphatically than Dubois did.

“Yeah 100% [I’ll beat him worse than Dubois].

These are the fights that I want. Joshua’s had a great career. You can’t really knock the fella, he’s been at the elite level. He’s done great things in boxing, but I believe his time is done. He’s got limited fights left and hopefully I’ll be one of them.”

‘AJ’ is more likely looking for a much bigger fight with Hughie’s cousin Tyson, though the former world champion remains retired for now.

Anthony Joshua has confirmed plans to return to the ring in December, following a period of recovery after undergoing elbow surgery this month.

The two-time world heavyweight boxing champion has been out of action since suffering a devastating fifth-round knockout against Daniel Dubois at Wembley in September last year

Speaking to the media in Mexico, Joshua revealed that he was prioritising physical rehabilitation before resuming full training later this year.

The procedure is expected to keep him out of the gym for up to eight weeks, pushing his return to the final month of 2025 and extending his lay-off to over a year.

While fans had hoped for a long-anticipated clash with Tyson Fury, a winter return effectively rules out a stadium fight in the UK and may delay that showdown until 2026, unless it is staged in the Middle East.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn remains hopeful that a fight with Fury can still be agreed in future, though Joshua has also hinted at other potential opponents including Martin Bankole, Agit Kabayel and Deontay Wilder, whose own comeback bout is scheduled for next month.

The British star acknowledged the need to elevate his performance if he is to reclaim world championship status.

A meeting between British heavyweight kings, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, has been a dream fight that boxing fans have wanted for ages, but to this day it has eluded them. To add fuel to the fire, a mutual conqueror of both has weighed in on who he feels would claim the victory.

Oleksandr Usyk has defeated both Fury and Joshua twice and there have been rumours that a potential third fight with the Gypsy King is on the cards. Usyk has said himself that he would like another meeting with the man from Morecambe to round off his career. The Ukrainian’s feelings as to who would come out on top in a clash between his former rivals would explain why he wants a trilogy with Fury instead of Joshua.

Speaking to the podcaster, Zach Hirsch, the former undisputed heavyweight champion shared that he believes that the man who defeated his compatriot, Wladimir Klitschko, to become WBO, WBA, IBF champion would better Joshua, who Usyk took the same titles off in 2021.

Oleksandr Usyk Predicts Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua

Usyk has fought both, on two separate occasions, so he’s a good judge

“I think it’s Tyson Fury. He’s a bigger man, a smart guy.”

Clearly, Fury’s undoubted adaptability had worn off on his once-bitter rival. Firstly, his ability and durability to go the distance, as he demonstrated in his most famous victory to dethrone Wladimir Klitschko. Another point of notice would be Fury’s trilogy with Deontay Wilder. In the first fight, which coincided with his comeback from his mental health troubles, Fury had no fear and switched to the southpaw stance mid-fight. In the other two meetings, Fury showed he possessed such knockout power that he stopped a man who had knocked out all but one of his victims, twice.

The 37-year-old’s two fights with Fury were a lot more competitive than those with Joshua, although the scorecards would suggest otherwise with Usyk holding both a unanimous and majority decision over both.

Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury

Both fights went to the scorecards and both went in favour of the Ukrainian

Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois

He first met with Fury in May 2024, with all credit to the Brit as he challenged Usyk more than he had ever been challenged before. It was a tight affair between the two undefeated champions and the Brit was winning the odd round and did manage to catch the ever-elusive Usyk a few times, especially with uppercuts. It appeared that the Gypsy King was a match and had a chance at taking the gold medal Olympian’s professional 0, that was until the turning point of round 9, when a clean left hook struck Fury on the temple, which bounced the 6’9″ off the ropes and forced him to turn his back. Eventually, he wilted and suffered a knockdown, making that round a 10-8 for his opponent. That proved crucial when the final cards were read; 115-112 Usyk, 114-113, Fury and 114-113 Usyk.

They met again at the end of 2024 and, on the surface, it looked as though Fury would enact revenge, again not making it an easy night’s work for the now WBA, WBC, and WBO champion. Despite Fury’s best efforts, however, the second clash ended with all three judges ruling Usyk’s way.

Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua

Again, the scorecards came in in Usyk’s favour

Many said the judges were kind to Joshua in the second meeting, despite the Watford native providing a better account of himself when the two rematched in Jeddah, after being thoroughly outclassed and almost stopped in the 12th round of his first clash with the soon-to-be first undisputed champion of the blue ribbon division in 24 years. The scorecards from the initial fight were 117-112, 116-112, and 115-113, all in favour of the Ukrainian. The rematch resulted in a split decision victory for the defending champion, with the scores being 116-112 and 115-13 to Usyk and a generous 115-113 to Joshua.

Usyk will have another rematch to contend with in July, as he goes up against Daniel Dubois for a second time, with the latter’s corner still causing a fuss about the contentious low blow in their first tussle. If Usyk gets past Dubois again and reclaims the IBF trinket, which would make him a two-time undisputed champion, perhaps Fury will be drawn out of retirement once more, and we will have another famous trilogy on our hands. On the other hand, maybe we will finally get Fury vs Joshua at long last.

A silverback gorilla can lift nearly 1,800 pounds and land punches powerful enough to send someone flying. Add to that a bone-crushing bite force of 1,300 PSI and a body built like a tank—thick skin, dense muscle, and raw power. Yet, despite all that, a bizarre debate has taken over social media: could 100 men take down a single gorilla? Believe it or not, even Mike Tyson and Anthony Joshua have weighed in.

If you really think about it, a gorilla, despite its immense strength, has limited stamina and endurance. No matter how powerful it is, exhaustion would eventually set in. Sure, it might maul a handful of men in the chaos, but over time, sheer numbers could overwhelm it. But here’s a twist: what if all 100 men were in their prime, and happened to be Mike Tyson or Anthony Joshua?

The former unified heavyweight champion from Britain recently appeared in an interview with iFL TV, where he shared his response to the debate. When asked how many Anthony Joshuas it would take to beat a gorilla, his response paled in comparison to what Mike Tyson had said about the same question.

“Don’t let this s**t distract you, bro,” Joshua said after questioning the reporter about the conflicts in Burkina Faso. “Stay locked in… Don’t let this s**t distract you, bro. Stay locked in.” It appears Joshua, who is coming off a shock loss to Daniel Dubois during their title fight last year, is more focused on his career than hypothetically fighting a gorilla.

Joshua has long been linked with a potential fight against former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, but the fight hasn’t happened yet. Regardless, this leaves Mike Tyson’s response. When he was asked how many Mike Tysons it would take to beat one gorilla, Tyson seemed optimistic about beating the gorilla.

“The gorilla’s in a lot of trouble,” Tyson claimed. “He’s in so much f**king trouble.” He also added that he would put the gorilla in a “full nelson” sharing a glimpse of his tactics to beat the ape. But did you know Tyson once tried to put the hypothetical debate to the test?

Mike Tyson offered a zookeeper $10,000 to fight a gorilla

Mike Tyson and Anthony Joshua

In one of the most bizarre tales from his turbulent past, Mike Tyson once offered a zookeeper $10,000 to fight a silverback gorilla. During the late 1980s, the former heavyweight champion paid to have New York’s zoo opened privately for him and his then-wife Robin Givens.

Recalling the moment, Tyson told The Sun“When we got to the gorilla cage, there was one big silverback gorilla there just bullying all the other gorillas. They were so powerful, but their eyes were like an innocent infant.”

Moved by the sight, but in a typically Tyson fashion, he added, “I offered the attendant $10,000 to open the cage and let me smash that silverback’s snot box. He declined.” Though the fight never happened, the story adds to Tyson’s legacy of unpredictable behavior. Years later, Tyson has admitted regret over his past with exotic animals, saying, “I was foolish… I was doing the wrong s**t.”

Having said that, Anthony Joshua doesn’t seem to be interested in fighting a gorilla with 99 others of himself. However, Mike Tyson is clearly up for the challenge, and has even tried to fight one alone. How do you think such a fight would turn out?

The boxing legend claims a silverback gorilla wouldn’t stand a chance if it faced 100 prime-era Tysons.

Mike Tyson has entered the chat, and he’s confident he could take on a gorilla, with some help from himself.

The viral “1 Gorilla vs. 100 Men” debate has had social media in a headlock for days with users arguing whether a group of men could actually take down a silverback gorilla.

During a recent interview with Ring Magazine ahead of Friday’s Fatal Fury boxing match in Times Square, Tyson tackled the question with a twist: what if those 100 men were all Mike Tyson in his prime?

“The gorilla’s in a lot of trouble,” the former heavyweight champ said without hesitation. “He’s in so much f—king trouble.” Tyson even gave a gleeful demonstration of how he’d put the animal in a “full nelson.”

However, this isn’t the first time Tyson has considered fighting a gorilla. In 2020, he told The Sun that during a private zoo tour in the late ’80s, he once offered a zookeeper $10,000 to let him into a cage with a bullying silverback.

“I paid a worker at New York’s zoo to re-open it just for me and Robin,” he recalled. “When we got to the gorilla cage, there was one big silverback gorilla there just bullying all the other gorillas,” he continued.

Mike said, “I offered the attendant $10,000 to open the cage and let me smash that silverback’s snot box! He declined.”

While Tyson is game, not everyone is so bold. Rappers Cam’ron and Mase recently weighed in on the gorilla debate, but both steered clear of wanting that smoke.

“I’m just fighting to take care of my bills, basically… I’m more conscious of my children and those guys looking at my appearance… I’m not going to fight again. I am not going to disrespect the sport anymore by losing to this caliber of fighters,” a then 38-year-old Mike Tyson told Jim Gray, ESPN’s sportscaster at the time, in shame, after losing to Kevin McBride in 2005. For Iron Tyson, it was a devastating loss, facing the 6’6″ Irish journeyman boxer in what was supposed to be an easy win. Completely turning the odds, Tyson had struggled with his stamina, failing to answer the seventh-round bell, signaling that he didn’t want to continue.

Coming from the youngest heavyweight champion in history and the 2011 Hall of Famer, it was an unsettling loss for both him and the fans, since Tyson was ahead on two judges’ scorecards before he chose to quit. It was time that the Brooklyn native should’ve retired when he came back to the ring after losing to Danny Williams in 2004 and a year-long hiatus. Instead, he had chosen this fight in place of a massive financial crisis. But wasn’t he one of the richest boxers in history?

Mike Tyson’s astonishing earnings in the late 80s

From fighting in the streets and winning the 1981 and 1982 Junior Olympics to making his professional debut at the age of 18, winning by TKO over Hector Mercedes, Mike Tyson had taken his first step towards becoming a feared knockout artist and dictator.

British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua is weighing up a potential investment in EFL Championship side Watford FC — the club from his hometown, Soccernet.ng reports.

The former unified heavyweight champion, who was born and raised in Watford and still lives in the area, is reportedly exploring an opportunity to take a financial stake in the club.

At 35, Joshua has already carved out a highly successful boxing career — Olympic gold in 2012 and multiple world titles in the professional ranks — earning an estimated $110 million in the process.

Now, the two-time world champion is looking to channel his success into long-term business ventures.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Joshua explained his motivation to invest strategically rather than spend frivolously — and revealed that Watford FC has emerged as a serious option.

“It’s a serious investment” – British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua eyes Watford takeover

“We wanted to move into private equity, venture capital funds,” Joshua told Seconds Out, via TalkSport.

“As you earn, naturally you want to save, so rather than me spending recklessly I’m trying to invest money into certain asset classes — and that [Watford] was an opportunity that presented itself.”

He added: “Nothing’s come of it yet. It’s a serious investment. If it comes off, it’s one that should do well.

“If they went back to the Premier League, then I’d need to get a shop on Market Street because the traffic that would be coming through Watford would be phenomenal.

“I’m not a massive football fan myself, but watching the fans stream down Market Street and into Vicarage Road — those were great scenes. If we don’t do it, then good luck to them anyway because they’re a great team.”

Joshua has previously invested in real estate and other businesses, and this potential move into football adds another layer to his post-boxing portfolio.

Watford finished 14th in the 2024/25 Championship campaign, securing safety but falling short of a promotion challenge. The Hornets, who were relegated from the Premier League in 2022, have since been striving to reclaim top-flight status.

The club has had several Nigerian stars in recent years, including Odion Ighalo, William Troost-Ekong and Emmanuel Dennis — a connection that could make Joshua’s involvement even more meaningful for fans.
