David Steven Sparks said Gervonta Davis can knock out Jake Paul if he lands clean, international media reported on Wednesday.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul announced his next fight, and it will be an exhibition contest on November 14 against Davis.

The announcement was unexpected and unusual because Paul competes in the 200-pound weight class, while Davis has never fought at more than 140 pounds.

However, Davis, who is the WBA world champion at 135lbs, will not have his title at stake.

David ‘Flat Sparks’, who had several fights between 2014 and 2016 and gained recognition for sparring with Paul in preparation for a fight against Mike Tyson, and also trained in the Mayweather Gym alongside ‘Tank’, said that Davis can knock out Paul if he lands right.

“If [Tank] catch Jake Paul with a clean shot, he’s very well capable of knocking him out. Do I think it’s gonna happen? I don’t think it’s gonna happen, but he’s very well capable of knocking Jake Paul out,” David said.

“He’s not too small. I seen Tank stop all his sparring partners. I’m talking about some dudes big like heavyweight, middleweight — Tank stopping them. If he catch a big man with a shot, he putting him out. I seen it with my own two eyes.”

On his experience sparring Paul, he praised the YouTuber turned boxer, saying he can give shots and can take shots.

“My first sparring session with Jake Paul, I was sleeping on him … I was going light and my man J’Leon told me ‘you can’t play with this kid’ … And that’s when [Pau] caught me. And I said, ‘nah, I can’t play with him.’ … He can give shots and he can take shots,” he added.

“When it comes to him and Tank, he’s gonna try to hurt Tank. They’re both gonna try and hurt each other. I think Tank’s best bet is use his boxing experience.”

A major issue has come up in getting the Jake Paul vs. Gervonta “Tank” Davis fight location finalized.

The boxing community is still buzzing about the fact that notorious YouTuber turned professional boxer Jake Paul and reigning WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis agreed to fight on November 14 in Atlanta, Georgia.

This fight announcement was always going to be massive, given that Paul and Davis are inarguably two of the top five most famous active boxers in the world right now. However, the massive size difference between them has been another reason for discussion (and controversy) since news of them going toe to toe was announced.

Paul came in at 199.4 pounds for his cruiserweight fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. earlier this summer and weighed 209.4 pounds at the time of the actual fight, according to MMA Fighting. As for Davis, he weighted in at 133.8 pounds for his most recent fight, which was a draw against Lamont Roach Jr. on March 1 of this year.

This size difference has made it likely that Paul. vs. Davis will be an exhibition bout, given that most commissions wouldn’t even consider sanctioning a professional fight between two boxers of such vastly different weights.

However, it appears that even if it’s an exhibition, the Georgia commission still isn’t fully committed to letting this fight take place.

Georgia Commission Hasn’t Approved of Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis

A September 2 article from Josh Peter of USA Today noted that the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission (GAEC), which oversees all boxing events in the state, has still not approved this fight taking place.

“The commission hasn’t approved this event yet, but it could still be considered at a future meeting,’’ Robert A. Sinners, Communications Director for the Secretary of State, was quoted as saying in the article.

The story later adds that the next GAEC board meeting is on September 18, which is likely when the fate of this fight will be decided.

It’s clear that the weight difference between Paul and Davis is the reason for this potential snag in the fight taking place, as the article noted Georgia’s rules and regulations state, “No boxing contest or exhibition may be scheduled, and no boxer may engage in a boxing contest or exhibition without the approval of the commission or the commission’s representative if the difference in weight between the boxers exceeds (a maximum of nine pounds).”

Paul and Davis will undoubtedly have more than a nine-pound difference between them.

While there’s a lot that has to be worked out, it seems that this superfight (at least its location) is up in the air at the moment.

Floyd Mayweather’s forgotten advice to Gervonta Davis comes to the fore ahead of Jake Paul fight

The ground between Gervonta Davis and Jake Paul is generating a lot of expectation, now, a new protagonist enters this story, Davis’ former champion and mentor, Floyd Mayweather

Who could have predicted that the decision Floyd Mayweather made one day in 2015 would change the boxing world forever? Signing a young, promising boxer like Gervonta Davis, who had less than 10 fights at the time, was certainly a risky gamble. But it turned out to be one of Mayweather’s best investments.

The meteoric rise of the Baltimore southpaw to stardom is undeniable, and Mayweather played a key role in that journey. However, in recent years, their relationship has deteriorated. Since their split, the two have traded subtle online jabs at each other, hinting at a rift that goes beyond business.

Boxing Pro shared a TikTok video on X with the caption: “Gervonta Tank Davis simply followed Floyd Mayweather’s lead #TBE #TankPaul”. The video showed a young Davis on Mayweather’s private jet, sitting next to his mentor, listening intently. In the video, Mayweather gave him some advice: “If you do well, they have something to say. If you do badly, they have something to say. So do what makes you happy. Because you see this jet? You see this private jet we’re flying in? I got it because I did what I wanted.”

For Money Mayweather, the key to all his success was living life and running his career his way. As he told the young Davis: “I made over a billion dollars, you know why? Because I did what I wanted to do. I will always tell Tank: ‘Do what you want to do’.”

Tank Davis faces a wave of heavy criticism

Now, Gervonta Davis is under the microscope from boxing purists for accepting a bizarre matchup against Jake Paul, with a staggering 30kg weight difference. If the 30-0 boxer really follows Mayweather’s advice, this suggests that he wants to retire undefeated, move on to exhibitions and maximize his earnings. However, the danger is that, unlike Mayweather, who left an untouchable legacy, Gervonta Davis risks leaving with unfinished business. By choosing this path, he could avoid high-risk matchups with Shakur Stevenson or even a rematch with Lamont Roach. The decision has drawn heavy criticism. And now, a veteran journalist has gone so far as to condemn the spectacle, calling it a heartbreaking symbol of the collapse of American boxing.

“In general, Jake Paul’s fights are s***. Everyone knows the truth. If they were the same size, Gervonta would knock him out quite easily. But they are not. There is a huge difference. […] Again, who has more boxing skill? Gervonta by a long shot,” said veteran journalist Luke Thomas.

To put it in context, Gervonta Davis was already a rising star at the age of 18, after winning the National Golden Gloves Championship in 2012, while “The Problem Child” was at that time gaining followers on Vine, accumulating 5.3 million followers and more than 2 billion views by 2015, with no connection to boxing. Although Paul has improved in recent years, a fight with Gervonta Davis does not help him in any way to advance in his quest for a world title. On the contrary, it seems more like an attempt to make money than a quest for greatness. For Thomas, that is why it represents the collapse of American boxing.

At 46 years of age, an age at which most boxers would have already retired, Manny Pacquiao continues to surprise the world by proving that age is just a number if you stay focused.

He is now ready to return to the ring after his fight against Mario Barrios which ended in a majority draw, a controversial decision, but one that made it clear that Pacquiao still has gas in the tank so there is already talk of his next fight.Manny Pacquiao is not ready to say goodbye to the ring, and now he is aiming for a fight with Gervonta Davis. However, the fight would only happen if the American accepts one key demand.

Who will be Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent?

Manny showed that he still has the speed, pace and stamina to compete at the highest level

The result was a majority draw, which prevented him from breaking his own record as the longest reigning welterweight champion, but did not stop his ambitions to continue making history.

Although Barrios said he was open to a rematch, Pacquiao sees no point in repeating the fight and is already thinking about his next target, which would be none other than Gervonta “Tank” Davis, one of the most explosive fighters today.

The challenge to Gervonta Davis comes with a weight condition

Although Gervonta Davis has been surrounded by retirement rumors, his team denied such claims and, according to recent reports, Pacquiao is ready to face him in December, as long as one clear condition is met: the fight must be at a weight between 145 and 147 pounds.

This is what Pacquiao said in an interview prior to his fight with Barrios“If he wants, then let him go up to 147 and we can fight… 145 maybe.”

And he confidently added: “That’s not a problem for me, because I’m an experienced fighter.”

This condition is no small one, as Gervonta Davis has never fought in that weight class. He is known for his devastating skills in lower divisions, so moving up to welterweight would represent a significant physical challenge for the American.

Plan B for Manny Pacquiao

If Gervonta Davis does not agree to move up in weight, Manny Pacquiao has another option on the table: Rolly Romero, the current WBA welterweight championRomero has shown interest in facing the Filipino, and his aggressive style could generate an attractive fight for fans. However, Pacquiao’s experience could be key to neutralizing the American’s youth.

Despite not having won since 2019, Pacquiao was recently ranked as the number one welterweight contender by the WBC, a decision that has generated debate. His draw against Barrios was enough to position him at the top of the rankings, which further fuels expectations about his next fight.

One of Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ top coaches spoke about rumors that Davis isn’t paying him.

It has not been a good year to be a fan of Gervonta Davis, and this is owed to several unfortunate pieces of news.

The most notable of which stems from Davis earning a majority draw decision against Lamont Roach on March 1, in what was arguably the worst performance of his life to this point.

While Davis escaped with a draw, most believe that he deserved to lose the fight, especially because he took a knee out of nowhere in the ninth round that should have cost him at least a point, which would have resulted in his defeat.

Boxing outcomes aside, Davis also has had a disappointing year outside of the ring. This is because “Tank” was arrested in Florida on July 11, on charges of assault after an alleged domestic violence dispute with his ex-girlfriend.

As if this wasn’t enough for Davis and his fan base to deal with, there have been recent rumors that Davis is leaning towards retirement, which is the byproduct of his hesitancy to sign a contract to rematch against Roach.

These two were initially supposed to fight for a second time on August 16, but that has been postponed because of Davis’ absence.

Did Gervonta Davis Refuse to Pay His Coaches?

After comments Calvin Ford (Davis’ head trainer) made in an August 7 episode of The Rize Podcast, rumors began circulating that Davis has been refusing to pay his coaches recently. However, one of his other top coaches, Kenny Ellis, set the record straight about this, which was included in an August 7 X post from FightHubTV.

“Stop this narrative about Tank not paying me and Calvin. Each and every time I worked that corner with Tank, Tank took care of me. And he gonna continue to take care of me. Tank is family for life,” Ellis said.

“In Baltimore, we don’t count other men’s pockets. I don’t care if he’s a billionaire, I ain’t counting his pockets. But Tank has always taken care of us, and he’s gonna continue to take care of us. So y’all need to stop that narrative,” he added.

While Ellis made it clear that Davis has always paid him for cornering his fights, his response did leave uncertainty as to whether Davis has been paying him adequately during his fight camps and during regular training when there isn’t a bout lined up.

However, this seems to be the least of Ellis’ worries right now.

Topps Drops Gervonta Davis—But His Card May Be Worth a Fortune

As of August 2025, Gervonta Davis remains undefeated with a professional record of 30 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw. He currently holds the World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight title, a belt he has defended successfully since 2023.

Most recently, Davis was held to a controversial draw by Lamont Roach Jr., in a bout that many observers felt Davis had narrowly edged.

Since then, Davis has faces legal challenges over an alleged incident in June related to a domestic violence dispute with his former partner and mother of his children.

On August 7, Topps announced on social media that Gervonta Davis “will not be included” in the forthcoming range of collectible cards featuring boxing personalities. And in doing so, they may have inadvertently created the most sought after boxing collectible.

Topps has yet to give an official reason for removing the Baltimore fighter from the collection, though social media users suggested it was linked to his legal troubles.

In recent months, Davis has been linked to fights with Jake Paul and potential retirement from the sport. Though retirement talk has been called out by his trainer as fake news.

Images of an autographed Tank Davis card have circulated online and was listed as a unique Topps Chrome card. However, that no longer appears to be the case.

“Topps Chrome Boxing features legends, rookies & stars, and is the first boxing release in history to be officially licensed by multiple boxing promotions,” said Topps in a statement announcing the release. It is the first Topps boxing card release since 1951.

Topps Has A Long History Of Boxing Cards

This is the first Topps boxing card release since 1951, which was a legendary and groundbreaking release in the field of sports collectibles. Topps decided to focus on baseball and other sports and never returned to making another boxing set since.

It includes heavyweight champions like Rocky Marciano and Joe Louis. Other Hall of Fame fighters in the set include iconic names like Sugar Ray Robinson and Jake LaMotta, Jersey Joe Walcott, and Ezzard Charles.

In all, over twenty incredible fighters who later ended up in the prestigious International Boxing Hall of Fame are featured in the 1951 set.

Is Gervonta Davis really looking to retire?

Rumors have been circulating over the past week about Gervonta Davis retiring.

The news, which spread quickly through social media channels, all started when boxing reporter Rick Glaser claimed that “very reliable sources” told him Davis was speaking with friends and family saying he was “fed up” with boxing and was looking to retire.

Davis’ recent arrest for domestic violence, in addition to the uncertainty around his rematch vs Lamont Roach moving forward, further played a part in the spread of the news.

And as the news spread, Tank’s coach, Kenny Ellis, was quick to shoot down the story, and in a post on X he simply wrote “Per usual FAKE news.”

Lamont Roach questions whether rematch with Davis will move forward

When news first broke of Davis’ arrest, Roach took to his live stream denying rumors that the fight wouldn’t move forward as planned, and would still be taking place on August 16. However, in a follow up stream on July 17, ‘The Reaper’ appeared to do a U-turn on the matter, saying:

I ain’t gonna lie bro, I just think this n**** don’t wanna fight. Remember when I tweeted, can he hold up his end of [the deal]? He still ain’t getting past that. That makes me mad, I am not gonna lie. It’s still a possibility but I think little bro just don’t wanna get in there. I really think that.

It was also reported that PBC was exploring new dates for the fight, but as of publication, the fight remains in limbo with no confirmation on whether it will move forward or not.

Tank may be looking to settle his legal issues first before thinking about his return to the ring.

NEW YORK — On the surface, Gervonta Davis is still an active fighter.
According to Tim Bradley, deep down inside, Davis has essentially retired.
“Tank is done,” Bradley told The Ring after ESPN’s final Top Rank broadcast Saturday night in The Theater at Madison Square Garden. “Tank hung ‘em up, shoes off, put a plaque up. He’s done.”
When it comes to his ability to fight, Bradley has always been a fan of the Baltimore native. More recently, the International Boxing Hall of Famer and former ESPN analyst hasn’t liked what he has seen from Davis.
From Bradley’s point of view, things went south for Davis earlier this year. The 30-year-old WBA lightweight champion entered the ring against Lamont Roach as a gigantic favorite March 1 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
Many, including Bradley, believed he would win convincingly, but Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) settled for a majority draw.
That subpar performance seemingly lit a fire under Davis, as he and Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) were tentatively scheduled to run things back Aug. 16 in Las Vegas. The Davis-Roach rematch was never announced, though, and it is unclear whether their second lightweight title fight will take place at any point in the foreseeable future.
The Ring reported two weeks ago that their sequel could still take place Aug. 23 or Aug. 30, but nothing has been announced.
In addition to dodging punches in the ring, Davis is facing a tougher fight outside of it.
The three-division champ was arrested July 11 in Miami Beach, Florida. He was hit with a misdemeanor battery charge originating from an alleged dispute with a former girlfriend, with whom he shares two children.
According to the police report, Davis’ former girlfriend explained that they had an argument related to their son.

Davis reportedly arrived at her home to pick up both children June 15, Father’s Day. Once they were safely secured in his vehicle, Davis allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend with a closed fist and slapped her across the face.
Davis was later taken into custody by the Doral Police Department. He was held temporarily at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $10,000 bond. Davis has a court date set for July 29.
His issues outside of the ring aren’t the only concerns Bradley has for Davis.
Prior to stepping in with Roach, Davis appeared to be on a collision course with former YouTuber-turned-pro-boxer Jake Paul had he beaten Roach. Paul himself later confirmed those reports.
Paul also revealed that their showdown is still on the table if Davis can beat Roach in their rematch.
Bradley has no doubt about Davis remaining as talented as they come. Considering everything else going on in his life, Bradley still feels the former pound-for-pound star is ready to walk away from boxing.
“Tank is checked out mentally,” Bradley said. “Tank is gone mentally. Tank is looking for the big bag, a Jake Paul, and then he’s out. I’ll see you later. I think he’s done. He has a lot on his mind that he wants to do, and he’s kind of sick of the sport of boxing.”

Former World Champ Tim Bradley Issues Blunt Warning On Gervonta Davis’ Future In Boxing

Former world champion thinks Manny Pacquiao will beat Gervonta Davis.

Manny Pacquiao is keen to fight Gervonta Davis following his majority draw against Mario Barrios.

Davis, however, has been tangled in legal trouble. He was arrested on July 11 on domestic violence charges against his ex-girlfriend. And while he has since been released, Davis’ proposed August 16 rematch against Lamont Roach looks unlikely to take place on that date.

Pacquiao, meanwhile, showed that he still has some fight left in him during the Barrios clash. And now, a former world champion has claimed that ‘Tank’ Davis is no longer mentally there as a fighter and Pacquiao would beat him if the fight actually took place.

World champion warns Gervonta Davis about Manny Pacquiao fight

Manny Pacquiao and Gervonta Davis

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, former WBC junior welterweight champion Tim Bradley believes Gervonta Davis is “done” and has “checked out mentally.” He also warns if ‘Tank’ doesn’t focus on fighting, he’ll get beat by Pacquiao.

‘Tank’ is done. ‘Tank’ is, hung them up, shoes off, get the bag, put a plaque up, he is done. ‘Tank’ has checked out mentally. ‘Tank’ is looking for the big bag of Jake Paul, Pacquiao.

He added, “He’s not gonna fight Shakur Stevenson at all. I don’t care how much money Turki offered, get him four Lamborghinis, ‘Tank’ ain’t taking that fight.”

He continued, “If he gets in that ring and he isn’t focus all the way in the head, he’s gonna get beat by Manny Pacquiao. He would get beat by Manny Pacquiao if he ain’t all the way focused in the ring.”

30-0-1 (28 KOs) Gervonta Davis is one of the biggest superstars in boxing and is must watch TV whenever he’s in action. However, he’s also often involved in out of the ring controversies.

Davis has been in talks to fight Jake Paul for a while, and with Pacquiao’s return, that has emerged as a new option. The real clash that fans want to see, however, is Davis vs Stevenson. Of course, everyone also wants to see how a Lamont Roach rematch would play out as well.

Gervonta Davis found himself in hot water again after he was arrested on July 11 in Miami Beach on charges of assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

Reports emerged that Davis slapped his former girlfriend in the face and hit her on the back of the head which left her with a cut inside her lip. Her mother also recorded a video where the WBA lightweight champion was seen throwing objects at the victim.

The incident occurred on Father’s Day, June 15, when Davis went to pickup his children from his exes home in Coral Gables. The former couple shares two children together.

Davis was released on bail Saturday morning and cameras were there to capture the first images of him since his arrest. He was seen walking out covering his face with a t-shirt, while multiple police officers escorted him to a vehicle, which can be viewed below.

Fans have reacted on social media to his arrest and release, with many taking a firm stance against it.

“face of boxing don’t wanna show his face “

“He’s a disgrace to the sport of boxing.”

However, Davis still had some supporters in his corner.

Davis needs to stay away from that women she wants to destroy him and the worst part nobody is on his side because his a violent boxer.

Although Gervonta Davis is one of the biggest superstars in boxing, he’s certainly no role model outside the ring, often finding himself in trouble with the law. And this most recent incident put his rematch against Lamont Roach in jeopardy.

Their first encounter ended in a majority draw as ‘Tank’ took a deliberate knee but didn’t have a knockdown scored against him. Considering the controversy surrounding the fight, the rematch is massive for both fighters. Roach has claimed that the fight is still on course despite the recent turn of events.
