Women’s undisputed heavyweight champion Claressa Shields and WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis might not have seen eye to eye in the past. However, Shields can clearly see what the problem is behind Davis’ latest poor performance against Lamont Roach Jr. The only fighter to have held undisputed status in three weight classes feels Davis is depressed and not in love with the sport anymore.

Setting aside the no-knockdown controversy involved in the fight, Davis suffered his first career draw against Roach Jr. earlier this month in New York. ‘The Reaper,’ who was being looked at as the major underdog, matched Davis blow for blow and pushed the Baltimore native to his limits. Amid this shocking turn of events, many claimed that it was an off day for the WBA lightweight champion.

Claressa Shields seems to have a different theory! While appearing in an interview with Fight Hub TV, Shields acknowledged that Davis is a great fighter in her eyes, “but he needs to get his mental together.” She even highlighted Davis’ interview on The Jay Hill Podcast, where Davis claimed he was evicted from his home.

Davis had claimed that his former promoter/mentor Floyd Mayweather forced him to fight Jose Pedraza in 2017 because someone told him Davis was messaging his daughter. Davis was six months out of the ring, so he was evicted from his apartment and had to sell his jewelry to get by. These statements from Davis made Shields feel “he’s not in love with the sport no more.”

“I can tell that he didn’t get his just due. I mean, it was crazy to hear that he said he got evicted out of a house or something like that,” Shields told the reporter. “When I hear him talk, he’s like, he wanna be a nicer guy for his daughters and… I think he would be better. And he’d be an even better fighter if he went and did therapy, like, asap cause I can just tell like he’s a little sad, he’s a little depressed, even before his fight.”

Last year in December, ‘Tank’ announced his retirement after 2025, suggesting he wants to undergo therapy and become a better person for his daughter. Regardless, Shields’ take on Davis’ fight against Lamont Roach Jr. doesn’t seem to have changed.

Claressa Shields’ verdict on Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr.

After the fight came to an end on March 1, Davis claimed that he had gotten his hair done days before and grease used in styling the hair had gotten into his eye, forcing him to take the knee in the middle of action. Many claimed the referee should have counted it as a knockdown, Shields seems to have shared the same opinion.

“How much they paying the ref ….. this is crazy,” Shields wrote about the incident. In a following tweet, she further elaborated on the no-knockdown incident. “I’ll say this and leave it there. If one judge had Tank 115-113 and the others had it even 114-114, I believe Roach won the fight because that knee he took was 100% a knockdown. But it was a very close fight. That my opinion,” she wrote.

It appears that despite the prior disagreements with Gervonta Davis, Claressa Shields wants the best for the WBA lightweight champion. Whether Davis seeks therapy is yet to be seen; for now, Roach and Davis are rumored to be set for a fight in June. Do you agree with Shields?

Gervonta Davis kept hold of his WBA Lightweight World Title in Brooklyn after a majority draw with Lamont Roach Jr.

Though Roach stepped through the ropes a heavy underdog, he impressed with his work and made it an extremely close twelve rounds. With scores of 115-113 to Davis and two 114-114s, the challenger was just a round away from causing a huge upset.

The result, then, is a sore one for Roach, since ‘Tank’ Davis took a knee in the ninth round but was not given a count by referee Steve Willis. A huge majority of big names in the sport have criticised the decision.

The New York State Athletic Commission looked into the matter, however ruled to keep the result a draw. Roach has now responded to the development via X, formerly Twitter.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Lamont Roach

“Look man I’m going tell y’all straight up, I ain’t sue nobody … MY TEAM submitted an appeal on my behalf. What it look like not having a team that don’t pull that trigger on some s**t that they know was wrong? They stood up for me. So all that lawsuit shit y’all can put to rest.”

“I’m not surprised about the decision by the NYSAC. A lil disappointed, yeah. Especially when they ACKNOWLEDGED the fact that Steve made the wrong calls in the 9th round. But I wasn’t banking on the overturn. Everyone know I won the fight and I’m satisfied with that. Part 2 on the way.”

The WBA may still order an immediate rematch, something Davis has welcomed and says he could be ready for it as early as May.

Gervonta Davis and Floyd Mayweather have had a turbulent relationship.

Boxing legend Mayweather guided ‘Tank’ during the majority of his career, as Davis won world titles in multiple weight divisions and became widely regarded as one of the most exciting fighters in the sport.

The two then parted ways in 2022, and things have seemingly turned hostile since then, with both men having fired insults in the opposite direction in the years that have followed.

Davis has now revealed that his former mentor Mayweather once put him in a fight where he wanted ‘Tank’ to lose, explaining to The Jay Hill Podcast how things transpired.

“I’ve been in situations where I was in a lose-lose situation and came out still on top. He [Mayweather] put me in to make me lose and thought I would lose. A boxing match. Jose Pedraza. My first world title. I was 16-0 and I was 21 at the time and I hadn’t fought in seven, eight months.

Around that time I wasn’t making that much. Maybe around 10,000 a fight. Six months is crazy to not fight. When they came back and said you’ve got to fight this fighter Pedraza, If you don’t fight him you’re not fighting and sitting on the shelf.

I had to fight him, in the midst of all that happening, I got evicted, I had to sell my jewellery.

For sure [Floyd did that intentionally].”

Davis fought Pedraza back in January 2017, winning the fight by seventh round stoppage to capture the IBF super-featherweight title and become world champion for the first time.

‘Tank’ returns to action in March when he defends his WBA lightweight crown against Lamont Roach, but another recently crowned world champion is already calling to face Davis next.

There isn’t much that Gervonta Davis can say, or do, that will shock you. We’ve heard him threaten his opponents. We’ve also seen him send them to the hospital. Seeing him step out of the coolest sports cars and wearing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry also isn’t surprising. With that said, what he revealed a few months ago, left nearly everyone speechless.
During a routine press conference to announce his upcoming showdown against Lamont Roach, Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) arbitrarily stated that 2025 will be his final year in the sport. As the months have gone by, Davis has continued to put in the work. With March 1st inching closer and closer, fans are hoping that Davis’ retirement talk would be the furthest thing from his mind.
Recently, however, he revealed that it’s at the forefront.
“Y’all getting the last little bit of Gervonta that y’all gonna see,” said Davis on an episode of Gloves Off: Tank vs Roach.
If Davis is deadset on walking away from this violent game, then fans are hoping that he’ll be involved in some of the biggest fights in the sport. Roach, by and large, doesn’t qualify as such but showdowns against Shakur Stevenson, Devin Haney, and even Teofimo Lopez are matchups that the boxing public has been craving for years.

Gervonta Davis

Davis, to his credit, has expressed interest in making those bouts happen. But he won’t get ahead of himself. Roach might be moving up in weight, but the 29-year-old is a current champion at 130 pounds and Davis has been inactive since scoring an eighth-round stoppage win over Frank Martin in June of 2024.
His future schedule isn’t set in stone just yet but whether it’s Roach, Stevenson, Haney, or anyone else, Davis promises to be the best version of himself until he hangs ’em up.
“I’m a make sure that I do what I’m supposed to so I can be the best that I can.”

Gervonta Davis is undefeated in 30 fights, but pound-for-pound superstar Terence Crawford believes he will be handed his first loss should he step in with one of two men.

‘Tank’ has scored 28 knockouts in his campaign so far, stopping the likes of Ryan Garcia, Frank Martin, Mario Barrios and Leo Santa Cruz. The southpaw from Baltimore is next out on March 1 against Lamont Roach Jr to defend his WBA Lightweight World Title.

Should he come through as expected, fans will once again call for Davis to take on a fellow champion in a unification bout. With Vasiliy Lomachenko out on the sidelines, his two options are Shakur Stevenson or Keyshawn Davis.

Speaking to FightHype, Crawford said that both men beat ‘Tank.’

“Whoever. I told Tank. Tank knows what’s up. He knows what he’s up against when he fights Shakur or Keyshawn. He wanna fight these guys that everybody in the world knows ain’t gonna give him no fight. They’re not mentally there. They might have a little skill here and there, but mentally-wise they’re not gonna be able to keep it up that whole fight. Them two guys right there [Shakur and Keyshawn] is gonna be the ones that give him his first L.”

Stevenson holds the WBC belt and will defend it later this month against Floyd Schofield. He has long called for the ‘Tank’ fight, however talks have broken down before getting anywhere.

Keyshawn Davis is the division’s newest champion, having defeated Ukrain’s Denys Berinchyk this weekend in New York to snatch the WBO strap.

The fourth round body-shot stoppage saw Keyshawn cement himself as one of the top dogs on the lightweight scene and he made quick time of calling out ‘Tank’ post-fight.

A major sticking point for either fight is that Gervonta says he will retire at the end of 2025, although he recently stated that he may just ‘take a break.’

WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson has made a surprising U-turn regarding his stance on fellow lightweight champion Gervonta Davis’ retirement plans. Last December, the WBA lightweight champion stunned the boxing world by revealing his intention to retire after 2025. He cited politics within the sport as a major factor behind his decision.

He also suggested that he want to stay out of the way and make money. Currently, ‘Tank’ is scheduled to lock horns with WBA super featherweight champion Lamont Roach Jr. on March 1st in Brooklyn, New York. And if Davis follows up on his plans to call it quits, a fight against Stevenson has a lot less time to be made.

Stevenson, meanwhile, has been calling for a fight against Davis for over a year. It’s a pursuit that has transformed their previously friendly relationship into one marked by rivalry and contention. The WBC lightweight champion is also gearing up for a showdown with rising star Floyd Schofield Jr. on February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ahead of his upcoming fight, Stevenson shared his thoughts on Davis’ retirement plans during an interview with iFL TV. When asked if he could relate to Davis’ decision to step away from the sport, Stevenson responded candidly, “I get it, I understand it. It’s a lame a** game, boxing has turned very lame.”

“There’s a lot of politics and it is not about how good you are as a boxer. Sometimes it’s who you know,” he added. However, this statement seems different from what Stevenson said in another interview a couple of weeks ago.

Shakur Stevenson brands Gervonta Davis soft for retirement talks

Shakur Stevenson has criticized Gervonta Davis’ retirement talk, calling it “soft” and expressing his disagreement with the decision. Speaking to Fight Hub TV during The Ring Awards ceremony in London, Stevenson said, “If he wants to retire with the career that he got, then go ahead and do whatever you got to do. I disagree with it. I think it’s soft, but that’s on him.”

Stevenson made it clear he’s not interested in chasing Davis. “I ain’t gonna lie. I ain’t into chasing people around. If he’s willing to fight, I’m ready to fight. I think it should happen, but I can’t sit there and chase you, and then he’s going to try to make it seem like I need him. I don’t need him.”

If Davis retires without fighting Stevenson, the boxing world will miss out on one of the biggest, if not the biggest, lightweight battles in recent decades.

That said, it appears Shakur Stevenson has grown tired of chasing Gervonta Davis for a fight. By the looks of things, their potential fight seems like a distant dream, which may never become real. But what do you think? Do you think the fight will happen? What do you think about Stevenson’s changed opinion?

Gervonta Davis is arguably one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world currently. After 30 straight career victories and five world titles in three different weight categories, he is the fight that everyone wants. While no one doubts the Baltimore native’s in-ring capabilities, we can’t say the same thing about his social media skills.

The 30-0 boxer has found himself in trouble numerous times over his rants on X. Most of the time he deletes his controversial or fury-filled tweets, but it is often too late. He constantly attacks his opponents on the platform and on Sunday he did the same. While answering a question from one of his fans, Tank destroyed Ryan Garcia and Isaac Cruz in subsequent posts.

Gervonta Davis reveals his easiest fight

The controversy started when Gervonta Davis decided to reply to an ‘X’ user @jjusticcee’s question and revealed his easiest opponent out of his last 5 fights. Tank quoted the tweet and declared, “Ryan” as his least troublesome fight, sending the fans into a state of chaos.

Fans found the reply perplexing as many widely considered Ryan Garcia one of the most formidable opponents for Tank. Another ‘X’ user @enudiwisdom_ replied to the Baltimore native and claimed that Garcia was his hardest fight and not the easiest as he claimed. He even claimed that before the fight happened, many considered the Victorville native the only opponent with the potential to end Gervonta Davis’ undefeated streak.

However, during the April 22, 2023 clash, Gervonta Davis destroyed ‘KingRy’ and knocked him out in the seventh round. It was Ryan Garcia’s first and only loss out of 25 career fights. The user further claimed that “Since Tank KO Garcia no one else has come close,” and if Tank doesn’t get a rematch against the 25-1, he will retire as undefeated.

Gervonta Davis

The tweet went viral as another X user @Ace_boogie_22_ denied those claims. He considered Isaac Cruz to be Davis’ hardest opponent yet. Once again, the tweet caught Tank’s attention who couldn’t help himself but gave another devastating reply, tarnishing Pitbull’s image.

Another Cakewalk, huh!

The WBA lightweight champion replied to Ace and wrote, “Pit bull was cake walk too,” claiming that even Cruz was not much of a challenge for him. Well, considering how the fight went down, that might not be the case.

The Mexico City native has lost three fights in his career and has had to climb back up the ranks every time after a defeat. He lost his first fight in 2016 against Luis Montano Alvarez via a unanimous decision. After that loss, Cruz rebounded with a string of impressive wins except one rare split-decision draw against Jose Calyecac Capilla in 2017.

After racking up 17 wins and 1 draw in 18 fights, Pitbull got his first big break in 2021 against Gervonta Davis after Ronaldo Romero withdrew. Not only did Cruz step in on short notice, but gave Gervonta Davis one of his toughest challenges yet.

Tank has won 93.33% of his wins via KO and Pitbull is only one of the two opponents who took him the entire distance of the fight. While Tank dominated the fight and won the fight via 113-115, 113-115, and 112-116 unanimous decision, the 26-year-old definitely put him on the back foot in the earlier rounds.

Well, only Gervonta Davis really knows whether he was just trolling or found Isaac Cruz and Ryan Garcia as easy fights. However, the stats show otherwise. Who do you think was Tank’s easiest fight or his toughest? Let us know your thoughts down below.

It’s been one of the foremost trends in the world of combat sports—exponents from one field of discipline traveling to another and vice versa. By and large, it has been one-dimensional. Mostly mixed martial arts fighters have been taking the plunge into the ring. Often, one comes across instances where boxers—especially notable ones—hint at a move to the cage to prove their fighting prowess.

So what will happen if, from the current roster of boxing champions, a few decide to test themselves in the octagon? From a noble art that focuses solely on pure punching, will a shift to an arena that’s just shy of a real fight work in their favor? It may be hard to gauge. However, there is now a tool that has proven to be quite handy for evaluating such complex scenarios. With the Usyk-Fury rematch, boxing officially welcomed artificial intelligence (AI) into its fray. Despite its restricted usage, the technology has been remarkably helpful in predicting hypothetical matchups and uncovering previously unforeseen prospects. ChatGPT was asked how some of today’s biggest names would fare in the UFC. Let’s explore how it responded.

Tyson Fury

Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury

First and foremost, the sheer size of ‘The Gypsy King’ offers him an unprecedented advantage. Standing 6’9″ and boasting an 85-inch reach, Fury weighed in at a career-best 281 pounds during the rematch against Usyk. One may come across such imposing figures in team games like basketball or football, but not in combat sports for certain.

Then the former heavyweight champion wields some deft technical skills in the ring. Now add to this his granite chin. He has suffered knockdowns against Deontay Wilder and Oleksandr Usyk. But ‘The Gypsy King’ has yet to suffer a knockout loss.

Gifted with high ring IQ, Tyson Fury adapts himself according to the fighting style of the opponent. So the AI believes the attribute could come in handy for Fury in the MMA cage. But the technology highlighted a few potential challenges as well.

The biggest hurdle remains the grappling. Statistics prove that the art of taking down an opponent dominates the UFC. Jon Jones once remarked that, for the uninitiated, fighting a thoroughbred wrestler or BJJ specialist will be akin to drowning. Hence, despite his size and boxing skills, Tyson Fury may suffer a humbling takedown or submission from a visibly inferior striker.

Gervonta Davis

AI checked the Baltimorean’s chances as well. With 28 out of his 30 professional wins secured through knockouts, Gervonta Davis remains one of boxing’s most feared aces. So if he could accomplish such a feat with standard boxing gloves, imagine the damage he would inflict wearing these thin MMA gloves.

One shouldn’t forget the lightweight champion is a highly intelligent and ruthless fighter. He can move around and stalk his opponents before delivering those deadly knockout punches. In the octagon, his supreme reflexes may prove a big asset. Despite his size and weight, Tank has beaten some of the foremost strikers in boxing. It speaks volumes about his unparalleled athleticism.

But like Fury, for Gervonta Davis, the absence of grappling skills remains a major drawback. The likes of Alexandre PantojaMerab DvalishviliIlia Topuria, or even Islam Makhachev dominate the lower divisions. So even if the Baltimorean manages to outclass them with strikes, what will happen if any of his opponents opts for a quick takedown?

Vasiliy Lomachenko

‘The Matrix’ of boxing may prove a tough nut to crack in the cage, says artificial intelligence. It primarily attributes it to the Ukrainian champion’s top-notch footwork. Building on the glorious traditions of Soviet boxing, the two-time Olympic gold medalist is an unmatched master of ring movement.

If that’s not enough, it’s worth noting that thanks to his father, Lomachenko is well-versed in wrestling techniques. Though he may not be a regular practitioner, the initiation could offer the necessary leverage to build on.

A classic old-school boxer, Vasyl Lomachenko, is used to fighting the whole distance. Thus, according to the AI, in grueling octagon tests involving 3 rounds of five minutes each, he may outfight MMA fighters. But there’s a major problem. ‘Loma’ will turn 37 next month. Whether he can rely on his fame, skills, and athleticism at a stage when he is nearing the end of his career could raise several doubts.

Naoya ‘The Monster’ Inoue

Further down, at the bantamweight level, currently, there’s no one who can challenge Naoya Inoue‘s dominance. The two-time undisputed champion, a consistent P4P best boxer in the world, is hard to ignore. Even the best find it hard to catch his deadly rights that land with pinpoint precision.

But it’s not only the skills where Inoue excels. It’s the overall package, especially his mental makeup and his attitude. Inoue enters the ring to obliterate his opponent. UFC and mixed martial arts fans would relish the chance to see such a fighter in the cage. Nothing excites them more than watching a fighter secure an early knockdown or submission. For a boxer of his size, ‘The Monster’ delivers a powerful punch that, according to the AI, could be a game-changer in the UFC’s lower divisions.

Like most of the boxers, for Naoya Inoue also, it’s the ground where most of the problems exist. The world champion may score a knockout with smaller gloves. But against a skilled opponent who will try to take him down with a clinch or ankle pick, Inoue might be scrambling for answers.

Oleksandr Usyk

If it’s Tyson Fury, then AI has to check his conqueror as well, right? The groundbreaking technology suggests that the Olympic gold medalist and two-division undisputed champion’s ability to adapt his fighting style to suit his opponent could give him an edge in the cage. Moreover, when it comes to conditioning and physical attributes, the Ukrainian champion is regarded as one of the finest athletes of his generation.

What truly sets Oleksandr Usyk apart from other champions is his sheer tenacity in overcoming much bigger and more powerful opponents. From Anthony Joshua to Tyson Fury, every heavyweight is well aware of what Usyk is capable of inside the ring.

In the past, Usyk has mentioned how he incorporates other disciplines into his training to become a more well-rounded fighter. However, against UFC champions like Jon Jones or Tom Aspinall, that might not be enough.

As athletes well-versed in the art of fighting, the aforementioned individuals may score a knockdown or even a knockout in an MMA fight. However, how much will excelling in one particular skill help them in a sport that demands the use of both hands and legs to secure a win? Fourteen years ago, James Toney faced legend Randy Couture. But the fight didn’t last long. Within the first round, Couture applied an arm-triangle choke to force a submission from the former world champion, who had dominated across boxing’s three weight classes.

The above scenarios were analyzed by AI. Who do you think would excel in the UFC?

Gervonta Davis shocked the boxing world when he announced he plans to retire at the end of 2025.

Davis returns in March when he makes the latest defence of his WBA lightweight title against Lamont Roach, but it seems that there may only be a couple fights left for him after that if he does indeed stick to his retirement plan.

That has now led to a claim that ‘Tank’ is only choosing to hang up the gloves in order to avoid having to take on one man in particular.

The fighter in question is Floyd ‘Kid Austin’ Schofield, the undefeated American prospect who faces Shakur Stevenson for the WBC lightweight title on February 22.

Schofield’s father Floyd Sr plays a big part in his son’s career, and he has told TalkSport that Davis personally told him he doesn’t want to take on ‘Kid Austin.’

“Gervonta said ‘I would never get in the ring with that guy’. And two years ago I told the world that when Floyd gets up to that level where he’s a mandatory to Gervonta, Gervonta will retire.

“And that’s exactly the same thing that is happening right now because anybody that has seen Floyd, the only one that has stepped up to the plate is Shakur.”

Floyd Sr then claimed that Davis isn’t the only fighter that is avoiding his son, revealing who else has been reluctant to take him on.

Gervonta Davis

“Everybody else who has seen Floyd [ducked him]. He buckled Devin Haney [in sparring] and Devin ran up two weight classes to get away from him.

“Jojo Diaz made excuses to get away from him. You’re all going to see something. I’m not saying he is the greatest now, but I’m saying through the lessons and experience, he’s going to become the greatest boxer of all time.”

The true skills of Schofield will be clear when he takes on Stevenson next month. A win for Shakur could have paved the way for a unification clash with Davis, but it seems that ‘Tank’ has no intention of facing his fellow world champion.

‘Hate’ Grows Two-fold Towards Gervonta Davis as Roy Jones Jr. Comparison Triggers Boxing World

Gervonta Davis is finally back. But fans are still as divided as ever. After all, the Baltimore native has enamored the fans with his boxing skills and penchant for knockouts. However, the script is getting boring for them, as he yet again makes a quest against a relatively lesser-known name, and fellow superstars fail to enter the scene. It seems the fans might finally be reaching a tipping point.

Davis, 30, will fight it out with Lamont Roach on March 25 on the PBC-Amazon Prime Video card as he tries to defend his WBA lightweight title a second time. It will only be his second fight after he dropped Ryan Garcia more than a year ago, and despite demands of putting on a show against bigger names, ‘Tank’ failed to meet their desires. If talked about the Roach fight alone, if the boxing commentator, ShowBizz The Adult is to be believed, it’s an easy call to make.

Gervonta Davis: a bit of Roy Jones Jr.

ShowBizz The Adult turned to his social media handles and gave his candid opinion of Davis vs. Roach. The YouTuber believed the 30-0 record holder had the fight in the bag, as the latter had emerged as the superstar in the lightweight division. In addition, he advocated for him to move up a division to feel the sense of competition. He said, “I don’t think anyone at 135 down to mess with the boy. I think, in order for Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis to find that type of competition, he has to go up to 140. That’s how I [see].”

The boxing competitor then roped in Roy Jones Jr. to draw a parallel. He continued, “It’s kind of like Roy Jones Jr. Nobody can mess with him at middleweight. So, he moved up to heavyweight. Nobody can mess with him there either, and honestly, I don’t think anybody is beating Gervonta at 140.” These comments didn’t sit well with the fans, who took to the comments section and expressed their discontent with his opinion.

Fans tear apart ‘Tank’

One fan cast judgment on the Davis vs. Roach fight. They said, “Ain’t nobody watching that sh*t and tank My boy.” The fans have grown weary of Davis fighting lesser-known names and non-title holders, which even affected his last fight’s PPV. Davis vs. Martin reportedly only did 350,000 PPV buys.

Gervonta Davis

A user compared Jones Jr.’s career with Davis. They declared, “Roy never ducked anyone and never demanded to fight anyone at a catch weight.” This was a reference to Davis avoiding other prominent names at 135 and demanding a rehydration clause in his fight with ‘KingRy’.

Someone didn’t agree with Showbizz The Adult’s assessment of Davis. They wrote, “I hate that you say that and he never fights nobody. How can you say nobody can mess with him and he refuses to fight the top guys at his weight.” The lightweight division has the likes of Shakur Stevenson, Denys Berinchyk, and despite the former’s callout, Davis never entertained the proposal or exhibited aspirations to unify the titles.

A comment took a dig at Davis’ recent opponents. The comment read, “Who did he fight that was a natural 135😂.” While Roach is moving up from super featherweight to challenge Davis, the same could be said about Hector Luis Garcia.

Lastly, a hopeful fan expected a better fight. They penned, “Might be a better fight than we think..” Roach is the reigning WBA super featherweight champion and could prove to be a tougher tactical matchup than many realize.
