Three-division undisputed champion Claressa Shields is arguably the biggest name in women’s boxing today, drawing attention from all corners of the sport. Everyone wants a share of the lucrative spotlight she commands. However, Shields may have missed out on millions after calling out alleged false claims made by Most Valuable Promotions, owned by Jake Paul.

You see, Shields and MVP’s latest signing, Alycia Baumgardner, have been beefing for quite a while now. The prominent figures in women’s boxing, who were once on good terms with each other, have been involved in verbal sparring, public confrontations, and heated debates about a potential fight between them.

Since the tension between them began, a fight has failed to materialize between them, mainly because of the sheer weight difference between the two. While Shields fights in middleweight and higher weight classes, Baumgardner has never gone above 135 pounds. The weight issue came up in a recent interview, where MVP Co-Founder Nakisa Bidarian made some comments.

When asked about a potential fight between the pair, he said, “I think Claressa Shields is walking around like a 190 lbs right now. Alycia is walking around at 132-133. So, if Claressa Shields wants the biggest payday of her life, she’s gonna have to figure out how to get to a weight class that makes sense for Alycia Baumgardner, right?”

If you know Claressa Shields, you know she proudly considers herself the A-side—and rightfully so. So, it’s no surprise that Nakisa Bidarian’s statement didn’t sit well with ‘T-Rex.’ In response, Shields took to X to call out what she described as lies from Most Valuable Promotions. “Weak a** Pinocchio looking mf talking bout my weight,” she wrote.

“Like I’m not undisputed heavyweight champ at 175, and most fighters’ weights fluctuate in and out of camp,” Shields added, clarifying any doubts about her weight. ‘T-Rex’ went on to highlight that she doesn’t need MVP to make millions. “But to say I need @MostVpromotions to make my millions like @SalitaProm ain’t been putting on is CRAZY!”

Shields signed with Salita Promotions back in June 2017 and has been working with them for a little less than 8 years. “I’m the first woman to make a million [in] 2022,” she concluded. However, despite her claim, both Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor are also believed to have earned seven figures from a single bout. Who truly broke that barrier first remains unclear.

But the question is, is a fight between Claressa Shields and Alycia Baumgardner even possible?

Claressa Shields shuts down chances of fighting Alycia Baumgardner

Two months ago, Claressa Shields firmly shut down the possibility of facing Alycia Baumgardner, calling her a “non-factor” and “not even someone who I would consider to fight.” Despite past tensions and a viral face-off during a DAZN broadcast, Shields dismissed the idea due to weight differences, saying, “I fight 154, 160, or 168. She’s never fought at 140 or 147.”

Baumgardner had claimed that a fight at 147 was once agreed upon, stating, “She agreed to it. There is proof that she said this.” However, Shields has since moved up to campaign at 175 pounds, winning a heavyweight fight against Danielle Perkins. While Baumgardner expressed interest in the bout both competitively and financially, saying “It got personal” and “it’s a better package with me,” Shields appears laser-focused on bigger challenges in higher weight classes.

That said, despite all the verbal sparring between Claressa Shields and MVP Promotions, it’s highly unlikely that a fight against Alycia Baumgardner will be made. However, do you think Shields should consider coming down in weight?

Claressa Shields Receives “Biggest Payday” Advice as Jake Paul’s MVP Promotions Leaves Doors Open

The feud between Claressa Shields and Alycia Baumgardner has now gone on for well over a year. The friends-turned-foes have been trading jabs on X for the better part of last year with some of those interactions even spilling into the non-virtual world. This is why many feel that there might be an eventual boxing match between the two undisputed champions in order sometime in the future. But Baumgardner’s recent professional tie-up with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions may put that potential fight in jeopardy. If you have to ask why, then you don’t know the mutual hatred Shields shares with the Problem Child.

As for MVP, the promotion is gearing up for a landmark event headlined by Katie Taylor defending her undisputed super lightweight titles against MVP star Amanda Serrano in the trilogy fight. This historic all-women’s card, set for July 11 at Madison Square Garden, will stream live on Netflix. The undisputed heavyweight champion’s rival, Alycia Baumgardner would also be a part of this historic all-women’s boxing event, making her MVP debut and defending her super featherweight titles. As a result, the MVP team gathered at MSG Theater this past Wednesday for the event’s official press conference, where amid the discussions several things came up including Claressa Shields’ name. It was here that MVP Co-Founder Nakisa Bidarian decided to speak on the chances of the two rivals fighting sometime in the future.

When asked about the potential fight, Bidarian swiftly replied, “I think Claressa Shields is walking around like a 190 lbs right now. And,Alycia is walking around at 132-133. So, if Claressa Shields wants the biggest payday of her life, she’s gonna have to figure out how to get to a weight class that makes sense for Alycia Baumgardner, right?” Bidarian said, looking over at the undisputed super featherweight champion standing next to him who shook her head in agreement. What this means is that it is Claressa who is going to have to come down at least up to welterweight if she wishes to make the fight.

“That’s just the reality of it. MVP puts on the biggest events for women in boxing—not what she does,” the CEO continued in an obvious barb at Claressa Shields. Clearly, he thinks that if Shields wants to fight matches that truly matter, signing a deal with their promotion is the right way to go around it.

Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua? Eddie Hearn thinks it could happen.

The Matchroom Boxing chairman addressed Paul’s recent comments concerning a potential matchup with Joshua, in which Paul said he will “f*cking beat Anthony Joshua’s ass.” Joshua, a two-time heavyweight champion, is coming off of a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois and seeks his next big fight, and if Paul’s team is serious about making that happen then so is Hearn.

“To be honest, I look at it and I think Jake Paul against Anthony Joshua—for me, we’d do it for the banter,” Hearn said on Matchroom Boxing’s YouTube channel. “ ‘A.J.’ would fight Jake Paul. He’d fight anyone to be honest with you. If Jake Paul wants to step up and fight Anthony Joshua, he’ll need the relevant insurance.

“The only thing that was disappointing was he says 2026. That’s like me saying, ‘L.A. Olympics for the surfing in 2028, I’ll be there.’ Do it in 2025 if you really want to do it. You’re not going to get really much better at this stage. I don’t know. Those two have spoken, I spoke to A.J. this morning, he went, ‘Listen, of course I’d fight him.’”

Paul, a longtime YouTuber and social media influencer who has become one of boxing’s biggest stars, also seeks another big-name fight after a widely viewed clash with 58-year-old legend Mike Tyson this past November. That event, which streamed live on Netflix, shattered numerous viewership records while garnering considerable mainstream attention.

Hearn would be happy to do business with Paul, and he’s confident Joshua would as well.

“We know Jake creates massive events,” Hearn said. “You know that’s going to create unbelievable viewership and, no disrespect to Jake Paul, it’s a straightforward night’s work. But I like this calling out of Canelo [Alvarez] and all this. A.J. is another challenge up there. If they’re game, why not?”

Joshua has yet to address Paul’s comments himself, so for now Hearn is serving as his de facto spokesman. And he said whether it’s Paul or anyone else, Joshua is ready to get back in the ring.

“[Joshua] said, ‘Why not?’” Hearn said. “I said, ‘What do you want me to say when I’m asked about it?’ He said, ‘Tell everyone I’ll fight anyone, anytime, it’s not a problem for me.’”

Netflix targeting Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury and Canelo Alvarez super fight in ‘aggressive boxing push’ after Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson success

Netflix are hoping to build on the momentum of Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson with an ‘aggressive push’ into the boxing sphere.

The streaming platform dipped their toes into boxing for the first time in November when they landed the broadcasting rights for the controversial crossover clash.

Despite the action in the ring being massively underwhelming, the event itself was a wild commercial success.

A remarkable 60 million households tuned in to watch Paul beat Tyson via unanimous decision on Netflix, while 50 million viewed the co-main event between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.

The event, which was staged at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, also shattered the record for the biggest US boxing gate outside of Las Vegas.

Paul vs Tyson’s gate grossed over $18m, double Canelo Alvarez’s $9m receipts for his grudge match with Billy Joe Saunders in 2021 at the same venue.

Netflix are now hoping to make another massive play in the sport.

They recently landed the rights for Taylor and Serrano’s trilogy on July 11.

And, according to Sports Illustrated, they are also targeting Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury and Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford.

While Canelo and Crawford have reportedly signed an agreement for a blockbuster showdown in September, providing the unified super middleweight champion beats William Scull on May 3, Fury vs Joshua is currently off the table.

Fury announced his retirement from professional boxing in January after losing to Oleksandr Usyk for a second time.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh was said to be preparing a mammoth two-fight deal for a clash with AJ.

However, those plans have now been put on hold.

Fury has retired before swiftly reversing his decision three times and Alalshikh seemingly hasn’t given up hope that the same will happen again.

“I want Tyson [next for Joshua],” Alalshikh told The Stomping Ground.

“I spoke with him, but I don’t talk about boxing. I just checked about his health and his family.

“I think maybe he’ll return. Yes, [I think he will return], I hope so.”

Fury vs Joshua is no longer the fight it once was when both men held all four-belts in the heavyweight division, but it is still undoubtedly one of the biggest boxing attractions.

It has the potential to draw in even more views than Paul vs Tyson, but organisers will have to get a move on if they hope to get the domestic dust-up over the line.

Joshua is set to return this summer, with his promoter Eddie Hearn recently telling talkSPORT.com that Martin Bakole, Deontay Wilder, Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker are all potential options.

Jake Paul’s controversial fight with Mike Tyson is back in the spotlight after the YouTuber’s latest on screen blunder.

The boxer appeared to slip up whilst discussing their fight during a live stream with fellow internet star Adin Ross.

Paul secured a unanimous decision victory over the former heavyweight world champion in November.

It was Tyson’s first professional bout since 2005, with Iron Mike entering the ring at 58 years old.

Tyson had also been forced to pull out of their initially scheduled contest in July last year on medical advice.

However, Paul has now been forced to clarify comments suggesting his opponent had Parkinson’s disease before their clash.

Discussing psychedelic drugs with Ross, he said: “Ayahuasca is really good for your brain as well, same with toad.

“Toad is what cured Mike Tyson’s Parkinson’s, no sorry, toad cured Tyson’s Parkinson’s so he could come back and fight.”

Shocked by the bombshell revelation, Ross replied: “What the f***. So the Parkinson’s from a toad, he licked a toad? How does that work?”

Paul then added: “You smoke it.”

The clip soon went viral on social media, prompting the 28-year-old to clarify his remarks in a post on X.

He wrote: “Bruh… Mike Tyson didn’t have no Parkinson’s… WTF. Why the f*** is the internet so stupid for. I misspoke.

“Meant he used toad to heal his pain. He has spoken about it many times. Just like I do. Just like many do.”

Tyson has previously spoken about his experience with ‘Toad Venom’ prior to returning for an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

Discussing his decision to box again, he told The Joe Rogan Experience in 2022: “I did this toad, this DMT stuff and I lost that weight.

“I don’t know what happened. I just said I’m going to do this. I did this toad and this toad said, ‘You gotta do this. You have to do it.'”

According to AddictionCenter.com, smoking Toad Venom has become popular in the USA in recent years.

The Colorado River or Sonoran Desert toad excretes toxins containing the psychedelic chemical 5-MeO-DMT.

Once dried into a paste, it can be smoked, with users feeling the impact almost immediately before being left ‘physically incapacitated’ for around 30 minutes.

Some users, such as Tyson, make major changes because of their new outlook on life, with the boxing legend choosing to make his return to the ring.

Mike Tyson makes worrying confession following controversial Netflix fight against Jake Paul

Mike Tyson has revealed that he has not fully healed from his loss to Jake Paul – more than two months after they clashed in the ring.

The 58-year-old was beaten on points by the YouTuber-turned-boxer in November, in a fight that sparked controversy – and even claims it was rigged.

Tyson struggled against Paul, who has had only 11 professional fights but is more than three decades younger than the former world heavyweight champion.

The fight broke records but Tyson has now revealed the physical toll it took on him. He told the New York Post: ‘I don’t know if I’m 100 percent recovered, but I feel good.’

‘Iron’ Mike, once known as the Baddest Man on the Planet, previously admitted he could barely remember the eight rounds at AT&T Stadium in Texas.

‘I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little,’ he told Fox Sports Radio in December.

‘I remember coming back from the first round and Jake is doing some kind of… I don’t know what he was doing (Tyson leans forward, pretending to bow) and that’s the last thing I remember.’

The controversial fight – Tyson’s first professional bout for 20 years – had to be pushed back several months after Tyson suffered an medical scare.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul

Ahead of the original date in July, Tyson had an ‘ulcer flare-up’ on a plane. The boxing legend become nauseous and dizzy before paramedics later came on board.

He and Paul were recently reunited as they mingled among political heavyweights, tech titans and media moguls to celebrate Donald Trump’s inauguration in Washington DC.

Paul, 27, and Tyson, 58, joined the sporting A-listers headlining the inauguration celebrations, including the likes of Conor McGregor, Dana White and Paul’s brother, Logan.

In a viral video, Tyson was seen getting on his former rival’s shoulders as onlookers chanted words of encouragement.

Both dressed in tuxedos for the black-tie event, Paul easily lifted Tyson as the boxing legend put his hands over his face.

After months of health complications, Mike Tyson‘s originally scheduled July fight against Jake Paul was postponed which was music to combat sports fans’ ears.

Despite that, ‘The Problem Child’ went on to knock out BKFC fighter and former UFC star, Mike Perry in the sixth round, preserving his fight against ‘Iron Mike’.

Jake Paul teases fight news as he returns to training

This past November, the 27-year-old picked up a unanimous decision win against the 58-year-old, subsequently breaking modern viewership records with the event performing tremendously on Netflix.

Paul came under heavy criticism both before and after the fight for handpicking someone 31 years his elder, and UFC legend Don Frye even recently admitted that the fight made him sick. However, in typical ‘Problem Child’ fashion, he brushed off all of the hate.

As Paul would’ve wanted, following his win over Tyson, he was called out by several professional boxers, even garnering the interest of the likes of Canelo Alvarez and Artur Beterbiev.

Although the 27-year-old’s next move hasn’t been revealed yet, he has recently teased that he is now back in intense training for his next outing.

“Somethings coming,” Paul captioned on his Instagram story along with several posts of him back in the gym.

In the first clip, the internet sensation turned boxer was seen intensely shadowboxing in the ring before then doing some strength and conditioning work and skipping.

Could Jake Paul be fighting Conor McGregor next?

Bizarrely, it was recently revealed by UFC star, Conor McGregor, that he is in talks to fight Logan Paul in a boxing match in India.

Although the news came as a massive surprise, the news was confirmed to Bloody Elbow by someone close to the situation. ‘The Notorious’ continuously hinted on social media that the fight is happening and will come with a $250m purse.

This past Monday, the WWE made their inaugural appearance on Netflix with that being their new home. As part of the show, Paul cut a promo at the start of the episode, stating he is dedicating his life to WWE from now on, throwing his fight against McGregor in jeopardy.

Since he joined the WWE in 2022, he has not wrestled full-time and has continued with his other endeavors, but that looks to be changing.

“I don’t ‘respect the process’. I’ve never ‘fallen in line’ or ‘waited my turn’, but you know what must really keep you up at night? I’ve been so good at this.

“And now? I’m dedicating my life to this, no more side hustle, no more bulls***. 100 percent WWE superstar,” he continued.

And with that, there is potential that Logan’s brother, Jake, could be in the fray to snipe the boxing fight against McGregor away from his wrestler brother.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul were hit with claims that their eight two-minute round fight in Texas last month had been ‘scripted’ or ‘rigged.’

Tyson returned to the ring at 58-years-old to face Paul, 27, in what was an incredibly successful event

Unfortunately, the controversial main event did not match the hype, with ‘Iron’ Mike looking his age and unable to put inexperienced Paul in any jeopardy. The younger man cruised to a unanimous decision victory.

During a recent appearance on FOX Sports Radio, Tyson was asked directly about those fans of the sport who now claim he was paid to pull his punches. His initial response did not give much away.

“I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little … No I have not watched the fight … Know what I remember? Coming back from the first round and then the next thing I remember Jake was doing some kind of, I don’t know, a bow. And that’s the last thing I remember. I thought he was gonna hit me, I thought what the hell is he doing?”

However, the former undisputed heavyweight champion was then asked if he wanted to clear up any rumours about the fight. He said that there was no arrangement.

“It was a real fight.”

Paul’s promotional company MVP has already come out swinging when faced with the claims, some of which have come from big names in the sport like Oscar De La Hoya and Carl Froch.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul

Most Valuable Promotions said in a statement that any such discussion was ‘an insult’ to the fighters and the sport.

“Rigging a professional boxing match is a federal crime in the United States of America. Paul vs. Tyson was a professional match sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR). Both fighters in good faith performed to the best of their abilities with the goal of winning the fight. There were absolutely no restrictions – contractual or otherwise around either fighter. Each boxer was able to use his full arsenal to win the fight. Any agreement to the contrary would violate TDLR boxing rules.

Trash talk and speculation are common in sports, and athletes and promoters need to tolerate nonsensical commentary, jokes and opinions. But suggesting anything other than full effort from these fighters is not only naïve but an insult to the work they put into their craft and to the sport itself.”

As Paul forges head in his boxing campaign, Tyson has now retired for good. He said that he felt ‘kind of depressed’ after the highs of the record-breaking event.

Mike Tyson has responded to claims that his heavyweight showdown with Jake Paul was ‘rigged’, with the 58 year old dismissing the rumors and insisting it was a legitimate fight. The former heavyweight world champion made a comeback last month to face off against the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

Despite the match being lackluster, ‘The Problem Child’ managed to secure a decisive unanimous decision victory in Texas, pushing his professional record to 11-1. Tyson, who was trying to recapture his past glory on fight night, only landed 18 punches over the course of eight rounds.

After the fight, some fans were quick to label the bout as ‘fixed’ after footage surfaced showing the 58 year old seemingly pulling away from a punch. However, Tyson has since set the record straight.

In an interview with Fox Sports Radio, the boxing legend stated “it was a real fight.” He was also questioned about why he wasn’t throwing punches throughout the fight. His response was quite surprising, confessing he doesn’t recall much of the fight.

“I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out. I haven’t watched the fight back,” he admitted. “You know what I remember… coming back from the first round and Jake was doing some sort of bow… that’s the last thing I remember.”

He added: “I wasn’t tired, I wasn’t sweaty. I went to the house we were staying in, I left the house with my wife and kids, went to the after-party then went back.”

In the same interview, when asked if the fight added to his legacy, the American star astonishingly said: “I never thought about that! The day after the fight, I woke up and told my wife ‘why did I do that?’ I just don’t know what the hell went on.”

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul

The 58 year old then shared how his family reacted to his shocking confession, stating they were very ‘supportive’ after the contentious bout. Tyson also disclosed a near-death experience before the match, saying he almost died from an ulcer flare-up during a flight.

He reflected on the event, noting, “This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” and expressed gratitude for the opportunity, adding, “I’m grateful for [Friday] night and have no regrets about getting in the ring one last time.”

Tyson revealed his harrowing health ordeal, “I almost died in June; I had eight blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won. To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for.”

World Champion Agrees To Give Jake Paul Title Shot: “I Want Pay Back For Mike Tyson Beating”

Jake Paul defeated boxing legend Mike Tyson in November.

It was a fight that split opinion within boxing, due to Tyson stepping back in the ring at the age of 58-years-old.

Paul was able to outclass his much older opponent, claiming a unanimous decision victory after eight two-minute rounds of action.

In the aftermath, ‘The Problem Child’ has been called out by a number of big name fighters, including several current world champions.

One of those men is undisputed light-heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev, and he has explained to Seconds Out just why he wanted to step into the ring with Paul.

“For a long tike I have favourite boxers like Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. Jake Paul beat Tyson, one of my favourite boxers.

“My first reaction was I want to pay him back, but after a couple of days it’s good, I don’t want to fight with him. If he wants it [we can fight], but I think he doesn’t like to fight me.”

Beterbiev then explained what he thought of Paul as a boxer and how he thinks a fight would go between the two.

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson

“I think I’d show him a real boxer. He has good skills, but he’s not that good.”

Beterbiev was last in action in October, when he defeated Dmitry Bivol by majority decision to add the WBA belt to his WBC, IBF and WBO collection and become undisputed at 175lbs.

As for Paul, he has named the fighter that he claims turned down an eight million dollar offer to step into the ring with him.
