‘I misspoke’ – Jake Paul forced to clarify Mike Tyson Parkinson’s comment after live stream blunder

Jake Paul’s controversial fight with Mike Tyson is back in the spotlight after the YouTuber’s latest on screen blunder.

The boxer appeared to slip up whilst discussing their fight during a live stream with fellow internet star Adin Ross.

Paul secured a unanimous decision victory over the former heavyweight world champion in November.

It was Tyson’s first professional bout since 2005, with Iron Mike entering the ring at 58 years old.

Tyson had also been forced to pull out of their initially scheduled contest in July last year on medical advice.

However, Paul has now been forced to clarify comments suggesting his opponent had Parkinson’s disease before their clash.

Discussing psychedelic drugs with Ross, he said: “Ayahuasca is really good for your brain as well, same with toad.

“Toad is what cured Mike Tyson’s Parkinson’s, no sorry, toad cured Tyson’s Parkinson’s so he could come back and fight.”

Shocked by the bombshell revelation, Ross replied: “What the f***. So the Parkinson’s from a toad, he licked a toad? How does that work?”

Paul then added: “You smoke it.”

The clip soon went viral on social media, prompting the 28-year-old to clarify his remarks in a post on X.

He wrote: “Bruh… Mike Tyson didn’t have no Parkinson’s… WTF. Why the f*** is the internet so stupid for. I misspoke.

“Meant he used toad to heal his pain. He has spoken about it many times. Just like I do. Just like many do.”

Tyson has previously spoken about his experience with ‘Toad Venom’ prior to returning for an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

Discussing his decision to box again, he told The Joe Rogan Experience in 2022: “I did this toad, this DMT stuff and I lost that weight.

“I don’t know what happened. I just said I’m going to do this. I did this toad and this toad said, ‘You gotta do this. You have to do it.'”

According to AddictionCenter.com, smoking Toad Venom has become popular in the USA in recent years.

The Colorado River or Sonoran Desert toad excretes toxins containing the psychedelic chemical 5-MeO-DMT.

Once dried into a paste, it can be smoked, with users feeling the impact almost immediately before being left ‘physically incapacitated’ for around 30 minutes.

Some users, such as Tyson, make major changes because of their new outlook on life, with the boxing legend choosing to make his return to the ring.

Mike Tyson makes worrying confession following controversial Netflix fight against Jake Paul

Mike Tyson has revealed that he has not fully healed from his loss to Jake Paul – more than two months after they clashed in the ring.

The 58-year-old was beaten on points by the YouTuber-turned-boxer in November, in a fight that sparked controversy – and even claims it was rigged.

Tyson struggled against Paul, who has had only 11 professional fights but is more than three decades younger than the former world heavyweight champion.

The fight broke records but Tyson has now revealed the physical toll it took on him. He told the New York Post: ‘I don’t know if I’m 100 percent recovered, but I feel good.’

‘Iron’ Mike, once known as the Baddest Man on the Planet, previously admitted he could barely remember the eight rounds at AT&T Stadium in Texas.

‘I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little,’ he told Fox Sports Radio in December.

‘I remember coming back from the first round and Jake is doing some kind of… I don’t know what he was doing (Tyson leans forward, pretending to bow) and that’s the last thing I remember.’

The controversial fight – Tyson’s first professional bout for 20 years – had to be pushed back several months after Tyson suffered an medical scare.

Ahead of the original date in July, Tyson had an ‘ulcer flare-up’ on a plane. The boxing legend become nauseous and dizzy before paramedics later came on board.

He and Paul were recently reunited as they mingled among political heavyweights, tech titans and media moguls to celebrate Donald Trump’s inauguration in Washington DC.

Paul, 27, and Tyson, 58, joined the sporting A-listers headlining the inauguration celebrations, including the likes of Conor McGregor, Dana White and Paul’s brother, Logan. 

In a viral video, Tyson was seen getting on his former rival’s shoulders as onlookers chanted words of encouragement.

Both dressed in tuxedos for the black-tie event, Paul easily lifted Tyson as the boxing legend put his hands over his face.

Despite that, ‘The Problem Child’ went on to knock out BKFC fighter and former UFC star, Mike Perry in the sixth round, preserving his fight against ‘Iron Mike’.

This past November, the 27-year-old picked up a unanimous decision win against the 58-year-old, subsequently breaking modern viewership records with the event performing tremendously on Netflix.

Paul came under heavy criticism both before and after the fight for handpicking someone 31 years his elder, and UFC legend Don Frye even recently admitted that the fight made him sick. However, in typical ‘Problem Child’ fashion, he brushed off all of the hate.

As Paul would’ve wanted, following his win over Tyson, he was called out by several professional boxers, even garnering the interest of the likes of Canelo Alvarez and Artur Beterbiev.

Although the 27-year-old’s next move hasn’t been revealed yet, he has recently teased that he is now back in intense training for his next outing.

“Somethings coming,” Paul captioned on his Instagram story along with several posts of him back in the gym.

In the first clip, the internet sensation turned boxer was seen intensely shadowboxing in the ring before then doing some strength and conditioning work and skipping.

Could Jake Paul be fighting Conor McGregor next?

Bizarrely, it was recently revealed by UFC star, Conor McGregor, that he is in talks to fight Logan Paul in a boxing match in India.

Although the news came as a massive surprise, the news was confirmed to Bloody Elbow by someone close to the situation. ‘The Notorious’ continuously hinted on social media that the fight is happening and will come with a $250m purse.

This past Monday, the WWE made their inaugural appearance on Netflix with that being their new home. As part of the show, Paul cut a promo at the start of the episode, stating he is dedicating his life to WWE from now on, throwing his fight against McGregor in jeopardy.

Since he joined the WWE in 2022, he has not wrestled full-time and has continued with his other endeavors, but that looks to be changing.

“I don’t ‘respect the process’. I’ve never ‘fallen in line’ or ‘waited my turn’, but you know what must really keep you up at night? I’ve been so good at this.

“And now? I’m dedicating my life to this, no more side hustle, no more bulls***. 100 percent WWE superstar,” he continued.

And with that, there is potential that Logan’s brother, Jake, could be in the fray to snipe the boxing fight against McGregor away from his wrestler brother.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul were hit with claims that their eight two-minute round fight in Texas last month had been ‘scripted’ or ‘rigged.’

Tyson returned to the ring at 58-years-old to face Paul, 27, in what was an incredibly successful event

Unfortunately, the controversial main event did not match the hype, with ‘Iron’ Mike looking his age and unable to put inexperienced Paul in any jeopardy. The younger man cruised to a unanimous decision victory.

During a recent appearance on FOX Sports Radio, Tyson was asked directly about those fans of the sport who now claim he was paid to pull his punches. His initial response did not give much away.

“I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little … No I have not watched the fight … Know what I remember? Coming back from the first round and then the next thing I remember Jake was doing some kind of, I don’t know, a bow. And that’s the last thing I remember. I thought he was gonna hit me, I thought what the hell is he doing?”

However, the former undisputed heavyweight champion was then asked if he wanted to clear up any rumours about the fight. He said that there was no arrangement.

“It was a real fight.”

Paul’s promotional company MVP has already come out swinging when faced with the claims, some of which have come from big names in the sport like Oscar De La Hoya and Carl Froch.

Most Valuable Promotions said in a statement that any such discussion was ‘an insult’ to the fighters and the sport.

“Rigging a professional boxing match is a federal crime in the United States of America. Paul vs. Tyson was a professional match sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR). Both fighters in good faith performed to the best of their abilities with the goal of winning the fight. There were absolutely no restrictions – contractual or otherwise around either fighter. Each boxer was able to use his full arsenal to win the fight. Any agreement to the contrary would violate TDLR boxing rules.

Trash talk and speculation are common in sports, and athletes and promoters need to tolerate nonsensical commentary, jokes and opinions. But suggesting anything other than full effort from these fighters is not only naïve but an insult to the work they put into their craft and to the sport itself.”

As Paul forges head in his boxing campaign, Tyson has now retired for good. He said that he felt ‘kind of depressed’ after the highs of the record-breaking event.

Mike Tyson has responded to claims that his heavyweight showdown with Jake Paul was ‘rigged’, with the 58 year old dismissing the rumors and insisting it was a legitimate fight. The former heavyweight world champion made a comeback last month to face off against the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

Despite the match being lackluster, ‘The Problem Child’ managed to secure a decisive unanimous decision victory in Texas, pushing his professional record to 11-1. Tyson, who was trying to recapture his past glory on fight night, only landed 18 punches over the course of eight rounds.

After the fight, some fans were quick to label the bout as ‘fixed’ after footage surfaced showing the 58 year old seemingly pulling away from a punch. However, Tyson has since set the record straight.

In an interview with Fox Sports Radio, the boxing legend stated “it was a real fight.” He was also questioned about why he wasn’t throwing punches throughout the fight. His response was quite surprising, confessing he doesn’t recall much of the fight.

“I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out. I haven’t watched the fight back,” he admitted. “You know what I remember… coming back from the first round and Jake was doing some sort of bow… that’s the last thing I remember.”

He added: “I wasn’t tired, I wasn’t sweaty. I went to the house we were staying in, I left the house with my wife and kids, went to the after-party then went back.”

In the same interview, when asked if the fight added to his legacy, the American star astonishingly said: “I never thought about that! The day after the fight, I woke up and told my wife ‘why did I do that?’ I just don’t know what the hell went on.”

The 58 year old then shared how his family reacted to his shocking confession, stating they were very ‘supportive’ after the contentious bout. Tyson also disclosed a near-death experience before the match, saying he almost died from an ulcer flare-up during a flight.

He reflected on the event, noting, “This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” and expressed gratitude for the opportunity, adding, “I’m grateful for [Friday] night and have no regrets about getting in the ring one last time.”

Tyson revealed his harrowing health ordeal, “I almost died in June; I had eight blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won. To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for.”

One of those men is undisputed light-heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev, and he has explained to Seconds Out just why he wanted to step into the ring with Paul.

“For a long tike I have favourite boxers like Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. Jake Paul beat Tyson, one of my favourite boxers.

“My first reaction was I want to pay him back, but after a couple of days it’s good, I don’t want to fight with him. If he wants it [we can fight], but I think he doesn’t like to fight me.”

Beterbiev then explained what he thought of Paul as a boxer and how he thinks a fight would go between the two.

“I think I’d show him a real boxer. He has good skills, but he’s not that good.”

Beterbiev was last in action in October, when he defeated Dmitry Bivol by majority decision to add the WBA belt to his WBC, IBF and WBO collection and become undisputed at 175lbs.

As for Paul, he has named the fighter that he claims turned down an eight million dollar offer to step into the ring with him.

The boxing fan favorite had already issued a much longer statement addressing his loss to Paul and the fact he ‘almost died’ when he pulled out of their original fight date earlier this year.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” Tyson wrote on X. “I’m grateful for last night.

Jake Paul eyes fight with current pound-for-pound superstar

Paul has received a ton of flack for booking fights with older, undersized, and inexperienced opponents.

However, he insists that his next foe will be one of the best boxers competing today.

In a recent episode of his BS w/ Jake Paul podcast, the 27-year-old acknowledged he might be biting off more than he can chew in a potential boxing match with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

“Generally, everyone’s biggest critique is ‘Fight a pro! Fight someone your age!’,” Paul said. “So when I said Canelo is the person, then everyone hates on that…wouldn’t the best opportunity to see me lose be going up against Canelo?

“People won’t be satisfied with my career until I get f***ing flatlined…one of the best to ever do it, a legend, pound-for-pound great… yeah, it’s gonna be an insane fight. It’s gonna be hard as f***. I might get my a** beat and flatlined. But let’s f***ing find out!”

‘Just sad,’ ‘wasn’t a good one’ and ‘trash’: Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight leaves spectators disappointed

One is a Youtuber-turned-boxer. The other is a boxer who had not fought professionally for almost 20 years.

And yet the combination of Jake Paul and Mike Tyson taking to the ring in front of over 70,000 fans at the home of the Dallas Cowboys gripped the sporting public, with millions tuning in to watch on Netflix.

The streaming platform announced a record 60 million households tuned in, peaking at 65 million concurrent streams. It called the bout a “mega-event,” saying it “dominated social media” and “shattered records.” According to Paul, over 120 million people watched the event.

Those who did watch – even through the technical issues Netflix experienced – weren’t treated to a boxing masterclass though, with Paul eventually winning via unanimous decision after an underwhelming eight rounds.

Tyson looked every bit his 58 years of age, throwing just 97 punches across the whole fight and landing 18 of them while Paul was athletic enough to outlast his vastly more experienced opponent. With the victory, Paul improves to 11-1 in his professional career.

The sight of Tyson back in the ring delighted many of his long-term fans, but it also left others cold.

Former heavyweight world champion and one of Tyson’s fiercest rivals during their heyday, Evander Holyfield, said the fight “wasn’t a good one” with a rueful smile.

NBA legend Magic Johnson, who said he’s been to many of Tyson’s fights in the past, said he had to turn off the fight because it was “just sad.”

“This fight tonight was not great for boxing,” Johnson wrote on X.

Others were more critical of Paul choosing to fight an opponent almost 30 years his senior.

Tyson is not the first opponent Paul has faced who is much older than the former Youtuber, having already faced UFC’s Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz well past their fighting peaks.

Former heavyweight Tony Bellew said fans shouldn’t tune into watch Paul until he “fights someone who is fit healthy and not a grandfather” while Olympic gold medal boxer Nicola Adams said Friday’s result would’ve been a different outcome if Tyson was back in his prime.

“Let’s be real a young Mike Tyson would’ve absolutely annihilated Jake Paul tonight,” she wrote on X.

The quality of the Tyson-Paul fight was put into stark focus by its co-main event which proceeded it, as Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano produced a classic bout with Taylor retaining her undisputed world light-welterweight champion status in controversial fashion.

‘Trash’

The fight is the latest in a long line of former social media stars converting to professional combat sports. What began as a purely amateur venture has become a lucrative money-making scheme with some of the biggest sporting names involved.

And the build-up to the fight was not too dissimilar to a traditional professional boxing fight. There were verbal barbs exchanged and there was even a slap thrown by Tyson at the weigh-in.

But when the two stepped into the ring, it was evident that there was a disparity in physicality between the fighters, with the 58-year-old Tyson unable to maintain his level against Paul for the entirety of the fight.

“I love Mike Tyson, but they giving him too much credit,” Terence Crawford, a world title holder in four different weight classes, wrote on X. “He looked like trash, to train that long and only throw 97 punches the whole fight is crazy. I’m just glad he didn’t get hurt out there.”

And afterwards, 27-year-old Paul claimed he extended the fight for the spectacle.

“I wanted to give the fans a show but I didn’t want to hurt someone who didn’t need to be hurt,” he said.

For some fans, such an admission only validates their criticism of the whole affair.

As well as the public criticism, the fight was subject to a host of memes on social media from fans trying to watch, with viewers joking about the poor quality of the stream and the overall quality of the fight.

As for the next stage in Paul’s career, he told CNN before Friday’s fight that he’d like to fight Canelo Álvarez in the ring, while afterwards, he threw the gauntlet down to Conor McGregor for a mixed martial arts clash.

On the other hand, Tyson didn’t officially announce his retirement from boxing but expressed his appreciation for the experience.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time,” Tyson posted on X on Saturday.

Tyson, who suffered an ulcer flareup that led to the fight being postponed for three months, offered details about the medical emergency.

It began during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on May 26, according to Tyson, the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion.

“I went to the bathroom and I threw up blood,” Tyson says on “Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson.” “The next thing I know I’m on the floor. I was defecating tar.’’

The source of the trauma was a 2 1/2-inch bleeding ulcer, according to Tyson.

He was not taken by complete surprise, based on the three-part documentary. Episodes 1 and 2 premiere Thursday.

Reflecting on a week and a half before the incident, Tyson said, “I was doing great and then all of a sudden I started feeling tired and I was explaining to my trainer, I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”

Tyson, who was taken to a hospital after landing at Los Angeles International Airport, said he lost 26 pounds after the ulcer.

“Can you imagine that?” he said.

The weight loss wasn’t the only thing he said he found unsettling.

“I asked the doctor, ‘Am I going to die?’ ” Tyson recalls. “And she didn’t say no. She said we have options, though. That’s when I got nervous.”

By the end of July, Tyson was training at full throttle, his agent Andrew Ruf told USA TODAY Sports. Tyson repeatedly has said he’s in good health.
